Yang Mi, Mark Chao’s “Three Lives, Three Worlds” Release New Character Stills
The Shanghai GCod Entertainment’s television drama Three Lives, Three Worlds: Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms <三生三世十里桃花>, starring Yang Mi (杨幂) and Mark Chao (赵又廷), released a series of character stills last week. The 50-episode drama serial is one of two upcoming adaptations for the fantasy novel series of the same name by Tang Qi Gong Zi; the other being a film adaptation, starring Crystal Liu Yifei (刘亦菲) and Yang Yang (杨洋).
Three Lives, Three Worlds features Yang Mi and Mark Chao as star-crossed lovers with a romance that transcends through different times and space. Its source novel, first released in 2009, is one of the most popular online romance novel series ever recorded.
In January of this year, Shanghai GCod Entertainment gave fans a first glimpse of their favorite characters with some stunning character posters. Last week, Shanghai GCod continued the suspense by release a series of new character stills, introducing the show’s twenty major characters. The stills were well-received by fans, with many excited for the opportunity to see their favorite characters being brought to life.

YM and HL seemed to be involved in a couple of upcoming projects. Where’s time for the baby?
Netizens are less impressed with Mark Zhao’s Ye Hua since finding out about the casting and have not changed much in their opinions with each photo/poster release. The latest pic release of Dong Hua (hero of the next book) also falls short in expectation.
More are waiting for the trailer/pics release of the movie adaption as it is generally agreed that the casting of the two leading characters are of a better choice than the TV adaption.
I don’t think Mark Chao is suitable for Ye Hua. He lacks ethereal beauty and his costume doesn’t help either.
If ethereal is the standard, only one man can do it and I am sure he was approached and I am sure he said no.
@funnlim
who would that be in your eyes? Wallace huo? many ethereal men in china, taiwan, japan, and korea in my eyes. like most of the boy bands
@m0m0 Not any pretty boy can play an ethereal men because ethereal men usually packs some baggage emotionally and only an older experienced actor can do that and amongst all older beautiful actor that looks beautiful without being sissy and eyes packed with wisdom and yet anguish is Wallace Huo. TJOF should be his resume for such roles from henceforth even if the stupid production team butchered it.
@funnlim Mark Chao is only 5-6 years younger than Wallace, so he is right in range age wise. However, I agree that Chao exumes the kind of macho-masculinity that is the antithesis to being ethereal.
An anology to this, as I read, was the time when the late Ian Fleming had objected vehemently to the casting of Sean Connery as James Bond because he felt the rough-looking Scotsman was not “ethereal” enought to portray the legendary suave spy he had created..
