Grace Chan and Edwin Siu Film “Wulin Revival” in Harsh Conditions
Edwin Siu (蕭正楠) and Grace Chan (陳凱琳) were filming for TVB wuxia period drama Wu Lin Revival <翻生武林> yesterday. Filming in the multi-layered ancient costumes in the scorching hot weather proved to be trying for the cast.
Grace, who portrays a talented martial artist and high-ranked government secret service commander, was dressed in combat clothing to film a fight scene yesterday. Although there were many fight scenes, Grace luckily has not incurred any injuries yet.
Grace shared that her boyfriend, Kevin Cheng (鄭嘉穎), had advised her to drink more water and stay in shaded areas when possible. Since many scenes were filmed outdoors, Grace sported a noticeable tan. “I don’t think he [Kevin] noticed whether I’ve gotten more tan or pale. But it’s okay, since it’s for filming.” When asked whether they have been too busy to spend time together, Grace smiled and said, “In short, we find time to see each other after work.”
Edwin, who was also on set for filming, expressed that the weather was nearly unbearable several days ago, where a background actor ultimately suffered from a heat stroke. When asked whether he has any strategies to avoid a heat stroke, Edwin said, “I froze some cranberry water. It’s a little sour, so it helps me stay alert. But Krystal Tin lectured me about it, saying that since the body under such high temperature, drinking iced water distresses the body.”
On whether his girlfriend, Priscilla Wong (黃翠如), has helped him prepare for the harsh filming conditions, he candidly expressed, “[She] bought a lot of mosquito incense and repellant for me. It makes me look like an old grandma! As soon as I sit down, I light mosquito incense. Earlier, one of the behind-the-scenes staff got bit by some type of bug and many blisters formed on the side of his buttocks. It was quite scary.”
