Yoyo Mung Scared by Car Accident; Ruco Chan Thanks Virginia Lok
Earlier, Yoyo Mung (蒙嘉慧) was involved in a car accident. While filming an automobile accident scene for ATF Counter Terrorism Unit <ATF反恐>, Yoyo’s head was reeling. After the scene, Yoyo admitted that filming the car crash scene helped her overcome the traumatic experience of her real-life car accident earlier.
Yoyo Mung and Ruco Chan (陳展鵬) filmed a scene for ATF Counter Terrorism Unit in Tseung Kwan O’s industrial area yesterday. The scene spoke of Yoyo being held hostage in a car, with Ruco coming forward to rescue her. Trapped in the car, Yoyo’s vehicle spun 360 degrees in several circles. The scene was filmed twice before it was finally completed. Afterwards, Yoyo stepped out of the car and said, “I feel so dizzy! I feel like I just went to Ocean Park [on a roller coaster ride]!” She sat down to eat a dried plum to prevent vomiting!
Yoyo Mung Still Possessed Fear of Car Accident
Asked how she felt, YoYo said said, “At first, I had no psychological preparation. In the scene, my hands were bound by the seat belt and I cannot move. It does not matter. The scene said that I bumped my head until I fainted, so there is no need to edit the scene. Actually, I do feel a bit dizzy. Most actors wish to perform their own stunts if possible because they do not want the final results to come across as too fake.” (Was Yoyo concerned about the risks?) “There is not guarantee in safety while filming action scenes, but I believe that the crew designed and prepared the stunt well while testing the it many times. To produce a realistic effect, it is necessary to take a little risk.”
Despite her weak, slender shape, Yoyo loved to film action scenes. She was able to endure pain and the filming effects can be viewed immediately. Asked whether she possessed reservations in filming the car crash scene [due to her real life auto accident], Yoyo said, “Yes, because the car was moving quickly. I sat in the passenger seat and the centrifugal force was very strong. It was quite scared. After filming the scene for a second time, I felt better. All is good, as it can help overcome the psychological impact [left from my real life auto accident].” Did Yoyo possess any reservations while driving in the scene? “No, I understand that accidents are unexpected, so I will try not to drive too fast.”
Ruco Chan Thanked Ms. Lok
Noting that ATF Counter Terrorism Unit had numerous action scenes, Ruco Chan commented that the series’ actresses were very strong. “Aimee Chan (陳茵媺) and Yoyo like filming action scenes and will frequently perform the stunts themselves. So the men are forced to do the same! Ha ha!”
Regarding the fact that TVB executive, Virginia Lok (樂易玲), held Aimee Chan and Ruco Chan in high esteem, thus giving Ruco a great chance in winning this year’s “Most Improved Male Artist Award,” he replied, “This year, more of my dramas were broadcast which allowed the audience to know me better, especially with the airing of The Other Truth <真相>. Since I have worked in the industry for so long, I just want to do my own part well. I truly have not thought about any awards.” As to whether he possessed confidence in winning, Ruco said, “I have never thought about it. In fact, I am happy to be nominated.”
Regarding Ms. Lok speaking highly of him, Ruco said, “I thank her for her praise. Two months ago, I signed a management contract with TVB, a company which I really wanted to sign with since the work arrangements have been very good. I am a person who goes with the flow. Working for so many years, aside from waiting for opportunities, I have encountered several talent scouts. Ms. Lok is one of my talent scouts; there are in fact many, including Producer Amy Wong (王心慰), a producer who trusts me a lot.”
Jayne: ATF Counter Terrorism Unit has received wide press coverage during its filming, likely due to the rising popularity of Ruco Chan. I thought Ruco was under Catherine Tsang’s camp, but he thanked only Ms. Lok and Amy Wong in this article. Hmm…makes me wonder whether Catherine’s influence may indeed be dwindling at TVB and whether her resignation rumors may be true?

I agree with you Funn, sorry to ruco’s fans out there but it has something to do with polishing shoes for Ruco..otherwise he wouldn’t be so fast promoted etc. Look at SM, the poor guy is leaving the nest because he was treated poorly for the last 10 yrs. I also think SM is a blunt and straightfoward in real by reading all his articles esp those he criticized new actor/actress of their acting. Blunt & straightforward in a nice way though.
I wouldn’t exactly say SM was poorly treated. He was the lead in every series he was in, even if smaller scale series rather than big time production.
And to all ruco fans, I stress on “IF”. Maybe he worked in so many projects he just forgot who actually produced which one.

Off topic : Even if SM was and still is main lead in most of those small scale production/series, TVB still reluctant to promote neither SM or series which he leads heavily to a point that can boost his popularity. Some ppl will say it’s tvb’s tactic to keep SM around by smoothering him with lead roles but never intend to promote/upgrade his popularity, just to keep him around in tvb. Like a bird cage.
If that, I also can say LF is also treated badly. He is lead in small scale series for years and his series has never has much promotions. Some of his series has only 1 promotion function for the whole airing time (normally have at least 3: One before, one after a week, one near the end and if it has decent rating, will have more).If he is in something so-called big with TVB, he isn’t the main lead and shared the lead with at least 2 other actors. The most important, he is the only lead contracted actor who has a year with no series and there is series with him. You can’t find any other one who is treated the same.

No. That year he has 2 series on hand but none is aired. It’s 2009 and he still has GTL and MOL filmed. GTL is even finished in the beginning of 2009 and I blv it can be ready to air this year if they want. MOL finished on Aug and if want, still can air. Look at LOO. Can’t say that the reason is because of his singing career because I blv that 2010, 2011 his singing career is the same as 2009 or maybe busier. 2009 he has a concert sooner than both 2010, 2011, the concert tour is less and no movie to film.

Even if LF was in small scaled production/series in tvb, most of his series are at the later timeslot which most ppl thinks this timeslot is how they gain high viewing point. LF was and still heavily promoted in other field like singing/advertisement and even pushed to movie with the help from TVB. Maybe that is what LF wanted most, not too active in drama and prefer to be more active in singing/movies etc. Lf may not gain any title yet like the best actor award in tvb drama BUT he’s already famous thru TVB heavily packaged and load of promotions. Even blind ppl can tell that.
However SM must rely on his acting and less promotions organized by tvb to climb up to this level.
To say LF is not heavily promoted is to say Linda is not heavily promoted. Come on! He is. Whether singing, acting, he is. How can SM compare to LF’s type of sometimes overhyped promotion?

Or your liking towards LF is too deep until you didn’t realize how heavily and probably the most HEAVILY PROMOTED ACTOR/SINGER LF is in tvb compare to others.
How can you bring LF into the pic when LF’s background to support his career from the beginning is already a better starting point for LF as compare to SM.

She purposely bring in LF because everyone says LF is heavily promoted. So, she made a comparison between the treatment of both actors’ series to show that even the heavily promoted LF’s series is also treated like this. Thus, the points Veejay stated as indication that Steven is not promoted is not valid.
As usual, Fox likes to debate on specific details. So, she’s just arguing specifically on the treatment of the artists’ series. Movies, music career, etc is another case. 🙂

With such intense popularity for LF in music industry/movies. I don’t think LF mind being less promoted by TVB like how they treated SM. LF has better option to gain popularity thru other ways.
You can check the timeslot for LF’s series to know more. He has a lot of series in 8:30 for canon timeslot, like SM. This year, Fa of his is even aired before SM’s Sentinel. Do you see him in any anni series for years? No. The newest so-called big and heavily promoted series he had is MR and it’s 2008. And in this one, his screentime is less than Ha Yu and Moses.
For advertising, it’s depends on the invitation of the sponsors, not TVB. For singing career, half of this credited to LF’s music company to allow him to release albums. And if he can’t sell albums, can he has second chance to release the second? He can sold 60k discs in HK within a month, give him a little credit.
Ok, to say, SM is sent several shows to host, it’s like LF with movies.
Even blind ppl can see that LF is overpromoted, ok, overpromoted with what? He is in news everyday? But in TVB weekly? Nope. He is in the tabloids with something like LF is dating A, sleeping B, rich family, overpromoted, etc. How many positive news he has every years? You can count by the fingers in your hands. Do you think that much “promotions” is good for him or declined him down?
Many ppl, such as Charlene Choi, said something like that: before meeting him, just read about him in the newspaper, think of him as a baddie. But when meeting him, change view on him. You can say that they are talking good words on their co-workers but think that all of them are that?
His singing career started in 2007, and movie career restarted in 2010, before that, all of his time is for TVB series, just like SM. Just count of his time before 2007, you think he is overpromoted so tell me, how overpromoted? After 2007, his treatment is any better for TVB series? In 2010, he has an offer from the blockbusted White Snake, but before that, he still has to film Fa sister series for TVB, being rushed to film everyday. The filming time of Fa sister is only 2 months, normally 3 months. The reporters once found him 4 days with no rest and 2 weeks with 1-2h of rest per day during this time. If he has no fancy on TVB series and be loved by TVB then only needs to focus on movie/singing, why he still has to do such stuffs? And now talk about TVB stuffs, can you find anyone else in TVB actors who has to filmed 2 movies and 1 series for TVB at the same time?
To compare with working treatment with SM, I doubt that you can see LF has any better promotions. The promotions for series, he has less than other ppl. Big series, not has his part. Anni series, say no to LF. Good timeslot? He has but other ppl even has better. Bad timeslot? He has so many. Well, so why you think SM is maltreated but LF isn’t?
If saying that TVB declined chances for SM to go out, alright, this year TVB also refused an offer for LF from a China series with 250,000 per eps fee and let him film the Back to 3 kingdom – a series that bring him nothing other than the bashes for changing the cast. And ppl can say that his role won’t be the center because the one who travel through space must be the center. But no bash run to Kenneth, the one who take the role of travelling through space but all come to LF – accused him to steal Ron’s role and chance.

I am sure they all eat the same rice box provided by TVB but I am sure LF is better paid, he is more promoted, he wins singing awards, this is not just the series perspective. Even if it is not cameo, not without making a huge issue out of it. LF’s every step in his career is calculated, it is nurtured. I would even say at one time KC was more promoted than SM was. SM was given lead roles, in what I feel better series in some ways (since TVB tends to do quality stories in smaller series), he survived on those and he did well, but given very little prominence or mention. Yes he was in the awards and such, but of course he has to be. Very few leading actors. In fact Moses got more promotion than SM.
For a lead actor, SM is at the bottom of the priority list. He should make a fuss about the whole handling of a great opportunity such as this. If this chance was given to LF, guess what 620 will say eh?

Learning singing? Oh well, he learned singing with Chu Fung Bo – a famous singing teacher in Shanghai when he was eight and he also learned singing with a famous HK singing teacher who passed away last year, same class with Nic Tse and some other singers, when he was 15. This teacher is also Kevin Cheng’s sifu. LF also followed music as second choice for university. So in fact, he has music technique background.

TVB artistes are actually quite favored by mainland investors for mainland series, and a lot of offers are being made. From what I heard, Myolie, Bosco, Ron, Moses, Fala, Kenneth Ma and you name it all got their share of mainland series refusal.
Perhaps Steven found this role and opportunity to act besides Hur Jun is very meaningful to him, thus the refusal by the top superior ignited all his accumulated dissatisfaction, and made him take a move to break free.

@Funn: The price of an artist, is partly decided by his/her value. TVB is famous with being stingy, I doubt they want to pay anyone higher than their value, even if they want to promote them.
For example, when Linda first started, she is promoted heavily, but her fee is still low. She can gain fans and becomes famous, then her fee increased.
So the price doesn’t show the promotion.
LF has movie offers, singing offers, and I am sure if he wants to do mainland series he will get approved.

Although I believe Raymond is more promoted than SM and very promoted now, his own effort and ability should not be discounted. He can act and he can sing. He has been singing themesongs for ages for TVB series before he became a singer and he sang well in those songs.
As for the Asia Pacific Award. Given the limited choice of participants (4 Big station excluded), I think Raymond deserved it. He really was hugely popular at time. Concerts always full house, lots of fans during fans meet and album selling until platinum award. Other participants pale in comparison to him expect Leo Ku and Leo Ku got the most covert price.
Maybe some people now hate Raymond for

Like I said, I dun say LF is underpromoted because it isn’t fact. But I think TVB target him in short term more than want to maintain his popularity in long term. This is also similar to SM. He doesn’t have much promotions and love like ppl think, but rather being put as the shield. If they really like him, they didn’t let him being bashed everyday without doing anything.
Well, I blv that if LF’s popularity is in Kenneth or Ruco’s level now (means rising), his scandal won’t be expanded and of course, TVB won’t protect him. So he would thank to his huge fanbase to save him this time.
Steven Ma is luckier than many other artistes in TVB. I remember that he opt out for a few years, and only came back in recent years and has gotten leading roles right after he reentered TVB. There are many others who are loyal throughout in TVB but still stuck in supporting roles.
Yes other than Raymond, Moses is highly promoted. He’s often the leading man in TVB’s ‘important’ grand productions or promoted series. It’s also beknowned to most people that 620 has sort of sacrificed Bernice to save Moses who is clearly more important, more loyal and make more money for TVB. Moses really know how to play the game anyway and always prepare himself with the right answer and behaviour to sensitive questions
Besides Michael Tse, Moses was asked about Steven’s leaving TVB and Moses responded gracefully by praising Steven’s acting and wishes he doesn’t leave. He sticks true to his ‘gentleman’ image.
To be honest, although I seem to be passing sarcastic remarks about Ray recently, the exchanges between the web members reminded me that a long time ago, in Moonlight Resonance, I liked Ray too.
I guess for the same reasons that people like him.
1. His dedication to his art. His real interest in acting.
2. He wasn’t the best looker then but he was the most sincere, talented and passionate among his generation (they were newbies then).
There were real, solid reasons why he was my fave actor then.
But somewhere between his meteoric rise and over popularity and snippets of his personal life made me just regard him as another TVB actor.
1. His perfectly sculpted face doesn’t move me anymore. His imperfect one would have related more. (same as Huang Xiao Ming).
2. His ‘chokness’ and perfect image was not real anymore. It became like a starry image.
Some stars strive to be Mr. Perfect, e.g. Huang Xiao Ming, Ray, Michael Jackson, Hyun Bin. But between Mr. Perfect fantasy and a real person, some magic is lost.
Such perfectionist seeking stars don’t realise that they don’t have to be perfect in order for audiences to love them more. (a sad case of Leslie Cheung)

You speak with a mature voice and while I also do not expect celebrities to be perfect and value talent over looks, perhaps the masses may not think so. More and more celebrities are turning to plastic surgery to achieve more “perfect” features and they have found greater popularity as a result.

That is if the perfection is outside or inside. What audiences can’t differentiate is sometimes, and it is a harsh truth, what is projected is not what it is. The people you named, some are deeply flawed, some we will not know until later. It is not who they are, it is their image and image is everything in the entertainment world. Their career depends on it.
Perfectionist in terms of attitude to work is different from the image if perfection. These stars have to be perfect image wise, if not audiences won’t love them. Do not mistake image with the real person.
But Ruco is brilliant actor he don,t need to shoes shine anyone, i guess u being jealous r u .. by the way m not Ruco fan but i can tell from your comment or my be u must be hate ms. Lok a lot ….

1) 620 praised ruco
2) reported asked ruco what he thought about being praised.
3) ruco, being a gentleman, responded by saying thankyou.
4) like what else are you going to say if a high ranked executive praises you? oh i hate 620 and she gonna burn in hell. no, you got to be nice and graceful, just like ruco.
5) speaking of talent scouts, 620 may have known him ages ago. I mean ruco has in the business for what, like 17 or so years now. of course, you would have heard of his name or seen him before. maybe 620 does favour ruco, who knows.

also, this is the first time i have heard 620 praise ruco publicy. in past interviews, print or televised with ruco, no one has ever asked ruco about 620 before. so ruco is prob bringing 620 up as one of his “talents scouts” is probably true. but its just that, no one has ever asked him about it before. ppl ask more about amy or catherine cause of the other truth.

Ruco is one talented actor who can definitely shine if given opportunities. he deserves the attention & any promotion because he got what TVB artists lack nowadays: the ability to act. If Virginia Lok wants to recruit him, she’s promoting the right person, unlike the wooden face Kevin Cheng.
Ironically, now Kevin Cheng is kinda praised with acting for BBJX :P. And yes, he is one of the best acting in BBJX because sorry BBJX fans, most of ppl there, only looks good and dun have good acting, so KC becomes one of the rare. The worst of BBJX should be Lau Sam Yu.

Have only watch episode 1. I found her acting good in episode 1. Very graceful and portrayed her gentle character. She has aged thought. She was really fresh look in Ah Sou.

I’m also a Ruco admirer – he’s a rising star who, for one, doesn’t depend on ‘chok’ expressions to flesh out weak acting skills. I particularly enjoy watching him on screen because he seems more mature and stable than his peers (those in their 30s), and to me, this is a partial reflection of his real person.
Btw, he looks great in the above photo of him holding the gun by the car door – not chok at all, just a very natural, believable pose!

To the Ruco haters: doesn’t matter how much you hate him, he’s here to stay. Fact is, he has signed a tvb management contract. Which means TVB is gonna push him right up your noses. He will be worked to the bone with little or no pay. Doing acting/singing/dancing/god knows what. Thats the way TVB works. They need to squeeze all the juice out of you. Juice isn’t enough, flesh too. However in spite of all this, i look forward to Ruco becoming a siu sang.
