Mr. HK Contestant Jefferey Leung Sustains Minor Injuries in Cycling Challenge
Yesterday, the ten 2016 Mr. Hong Kong contestants went to Taiwan’s Pingtung to shoot a video for their upcoming contest. Mr. Hong Kong 2016 will be the first Mr. HK pageant held by TVB since 2011.
In yesterday’s task, the ten young men dressed up in bodyfit jerseys and biked around Pingtung’s Dapeng Bay. Even though safety precautions were followed, some of the contestants ended up sustaining minor scratches while filming their cycling shots.
#10 Jeffery Leung (梁賢基), who does not have experience cycling in a public bike lane, fell into the ground when a car sped past him. He landed on his right side and scraped his right elbow and knee.
In a later interview, Jeffery said, “There was a little mishap. I was going downhill and a car was passing by. Because I don’t have much experience biking in shared lanes, I got shocked when the car sped past me. I lost my balance and fell. Got a little scratched up.” (Are you afraid that this incident would affect your performance in the contest?) “I don’t think it will. It’s a very small injury.”
#5 Wu Fei (胡㻗) also does not have much experience in cycling, but said he found the assignment to be fun and challenging anyways. “It was fun. I don’t have much experience but I do like cycling.” (Do you find bike-sharing lanes dangerous?) “I am a bit worried. I know some of us got hurt, but I didn’t see it happen.”
The 2016 Mr. Hong Kong contest will be held on September 11, in conjunction with the Miss Hong Kong Pageant 2016.
