“No Reserve” Gets a Network Broadcast After All
After years of controversy and struggle, the Rosy Business <巾幗梟雄> threequel No Reserve <巾幗梟雄之諜血長天> finally gets a primetime broadcast on TVB Jade. The war epic will be succeeding Dead Wrong <致命復活> in the third primetime slot, premiering on December 19, 2016.
No Reserve was filmed in early 2013 and was slated to be that year’s anniversary drama, until TVB decided to put a hold on its broadcast. Rumors claimed that the show was too explicit and violent to be aired on a network. No Reserve stayed in the warehouse for three whole years before TVB finally decided to premiere it on myTV SUPER, TVB’s paid OTT service, this year. The first five episodes were made available to stream on October 1, 2016.
“It’s great news,” said Wayne Lai (黎耀祥), lead actor in No Reserve. “There’s been a lot of talk about the show, and it definitely attracted a lot of people to watch it. It gave a lot of subscribers to myTV SUPER too. Some of my friends bought the box just to watch the show. A friend’s mother watched all 30 episodes in one week! Now that it will be airing on TVB Jade, I hope the show can attract a larger audience. I’m quite confident in the ratings, as I think a lot of people are interested in rewatching it.”
No Reserve takes place during the Second Sino-Japanese war, and stars Wayne as twin brothers, one a Chinese soldier and another a Japanese businessman. Myolie Wu (胡杏兒) and Edwin Siu (蕭正楠) star alongside as secret agents.
Rogue Emperor <流氓皇帝>, which was filmed in 2014, will be No Reserve’s competitor. It will succeed Two Steps from Heaven <幕後玩家> in the second primetime slot, and premiere on December 12, 2016. Rogue Emperor is the remake of 1981’s The Misadventure of Zoo <流氓皇帝>, and stars Kenneth Ma (馬國明) and Niki Chow (周麗淇).
Kenneth said, “I’m happy of course! I think the script is brilliant. I hope more viewers will like it!”

Looking forward to both series. Seems like there’s something to watch again on TV.
@funnlim Unfortunately i must say, having already watched no reserve…its pretty bad. And i can see why it was placed on hold for so long. I had so much hope for this series. It was a big flop and bad ending for the franchise itself 🙁
I fear the same for rogue
Whenever I hear the word Controversial in any article about TVB series I know it will be as Controversial as dying your cat pink rather than not dying it. That’s how controversial it is. Which is not controversial at all. The idea is controversial, even sometimes thought provoking but the end product since is in prime time tv can’t be more than just mere suggestion.
I am watching Westworld now, the censored version, which since censored I didn’t see those action packed stuff but the suggestion of it is horrifying AND truly controversial. Not TVB. So no worries kid, no worries mommies and daddies, let your kids watch. You will be safe even if before that particular controversial scene is broadcast we have a million articles telling us how it is so controversial TVB had to cut it or whatever rubbish they did to cut out possibly the ratings saver part so that in the end you have a mere mild suggestion of it that lasts about 3 seconds (you can count) and never lifts the stories but burdens it with its overhype and bland story where every modern day story involving rich professional people involves an expensive wine, a pub for police, a cafe for housewives, a rundown hk cafe for ordinary folks and a lot of preaching and some very truly atrocious casting decision but with many articles of someone writing on behalf of fans exclaiming how great they are.
You know, TVB way.
Let’s not start on K dramas. They fans are even more insane and the recappers love every single K drama series out there but never bothered with the fact that every single k dramas out there is the same, kiss the same, hug the same, all the same.
been waiting for Rogue Emperor!
Finally back from the dead but im not a fan of either leads so I’ll skip, no thanks!
that poor soul who spent one week to binge watch the show must be bored to her core. no reserve was just so unbelievably bad that i had to stop watching it. the show tried to be an epic by creating complex storyline but the story completely lack character development. you want to feel bad for someone but you can’t cause you don’t know what exactly happened. it was just a terrible show that i can’t believe they put it on tv. whoever that wrote the scripts should be hang by his toenails.
@m0m0 Well, the scriptwriter Yip Kwong Yam is the same person who wrote that horrible Bullet Brain or whatever-the- hell-named series that was (that Tim Gor series from a few years back that also starred Wayne in it) — the guy is crazy and delusional, so no surprise that the script turned out so badly. And to think that the scriptwriter actually got into a legal battle with TVB over back-wages for writing that script (which is one of the main reasons why the broadcast of the series was delayed for so long) — in my opinion, instead of suing TVB, he probably should’ve PAID them back for wasting valuable resources to film his stupid script!
As for Rouge Emperor — let’s see how that one turns out, as the original is kind of hard to top. If this series tanks, hopefully it will stop TVB from continuing to “butcher” classics. Please, TVB, we do not need to watch remakes/reboots of your classic series, especially when the casting for the remakes are mediocre at best and nowhere near the level of the originals. Stop destroying your legacy — those classics are pretty much the only good thing you’ve got left now!
