Stephen Fung’s “The Adventurers” Lands on August 11 Release
A new action adventure blockbuster will be taking over China’s summer box office this year.
Directed by Stephen Fung (馮德倫), in his first film after his Hollywood stint, The Adventurers <侠盗联盟> stars Andy Lau (劉德華), Shu Qi (舒淇), Zhang Jingchu (张静初), Tony Yang (楊祐寧), and Jean Reno in an action-packed adventure about a trio of thieves who attempt to steal a treasure from an international organization. Eric Tsang (曾志偉) and Sha Yi (沙溢) make special appearances.
The Adventurers was shot in Mainland China, France, and the Czech Republic. Terence Chan (張家振), who has produced films such as Hard Boiled <辣手神探>, Face/Off, and Red Cliff <赤壁>, executively produces the film, with Andy Lau as producer.
The film—Stephen’s first Chinese movie after producing AMC’s Into the Badlands—recruited an international team for its production. Shane Hurlbut, who has done movies such as Terminator Salvation and Need for Speed, is the film’s cinematographer. The practical effects work in the film is handled by the same team who has done films like The Transporter and Taken.
The Adventurers will be released on August 11, 2017.
