• To be fair though, she really isn’t a good actor. Too stiff. Even with training from Juilliard. Acting and the arts is unfortunately something that truly requires talent. Sometimes no matter how hard you work, if you lack natural talent, you don’t excel. But I do agree with you that perhaps her management/agent is not the best because with the lack of Asian American artists in Hollywood, her talent or lack of, shouldn’t limit her opportunities for a more beefy Asian role. Problem is, I think she thinks that because she is an A-list actor in HK, and with her masters in Juilliard, she belongs in top Hollywood productions, rather than a smaller film and play lead. Can you imagine her acting as Ali Wong in Beef? Or taking any of Awkwafina’s roles? She always gives me an air of “I’m better than that” so I think she prefers to play small roles in big films than big roles in small films. At least she gets to work among the biggest stars and I think that makes her feel like she’s part of the A-listers.
