Xiao Zhan and Tiffany Tang to Star in New Drama?
One of China’s most popular actors, Xiao Zhan’s (肖戰) recent hits include: Youth Memories <夢中的那片海>, The Longest Promise <玉骨遙>, and Sunshine by My Side <驕陽伴我>. Known for being a hard worker and for his professionalism, Xiao Zhan is also reliable in pulling viewership ratings which makes him a popular casting choice among producers.
For The Legend of the Condor Heroes: The Great Hero <射鵰英雄傳：俠之大者>, Xiao Zhan did not use a body double and performed most of the stunts by himself. Portraying skilled martial artist Guo Jing, Xiao Zhan gained 26 pounds and exercised for 10 hours before filming certain scenes.
However, Xiao Zhan rapidly lost all of his muscle mass to play a scholar in Zang Hai Zhuan <藏海傳>. Fans were heartbroken when they saw his arms and wrists were full of bruises and wounds and hope he would take care of himself and not work so hard.
Rest is now a luxury for Xiao Zhan, whose schedule is packed to the brim. It is rumored renowned author Yu Hua’s (余華) book Wen Cheng <文城> will be adapted into a drama. Wen Cheng is a love story between a young man from the north and a woman from the south during the turbulent years of the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. The woman suddenly left after giving birth to their daughter and was never heard from again. The man carried his daughter on his back and travelled all the way south in search of his wife.
The producers of the dramatic adaptation of Wen Cheng reached out to Xiao Zhan and Tiffany Tang (唐嫣) as potential leads as a married couple. As Tiffany has been experiencing another wave of popularity after starring in Wong Kar Wai’s (王家衛) Blossoms Shanghai <繁花> and she has never worked with Xiao Zhang before, netizens are excited for the rumored casting.

I think TT is much older than Xiao Zhao. She is 40 years old. She is eight years older than him.
Her acting is not that great also. Hopefully they will find someone else who will be a better match with him for the role.
I think this is a interesting pairing…not a fan of Tang Yan but she is better the the newbies or Li Qin again. Most important, I want it to be his choice. Saying that, if this drama ends up not great…I will have to give it a miss.
Yeah I thought the same. Thought the Zhao Liying and Wang Yibo pairing was strange too with them being 10 years apart. Doesn’t matter if the genders are reversed to me. I’d prefer if actors playing couples are closer in age unless the plot calls for the age gap. Ruins the immersion when their ages are far apart, like how Joe Ma keeps getting paired up with ladies ~10+ years younger than him.
Wow…if it is happening. Tang Yan better get her PR team ready to deal withj Xiao Zhan’s fandom…there will be those that will not be happy. But I bet many of his fans will be happy forr him if this is his choice too. Xiao Zhan deserves it.

If he picks her as his female lead than I will support his decision or unless the story required the FL is older than it’s understandable. We just have to wait and see.
