“Eye in the Sky” Earns 25 Points in First Week Ratings
Despite its efforts to improve its viewership in recent months, TVB’s 2015 line up has only pulled in mediocre ratings.
New crime thriller Eye in the Sky <天眼> opened on March 2. Even with the impressive cast consisting of Kevin Cheng (鄭嘉穎), Ruco Chan (陳展鵬), and Tavia Yeung (楊怡), Eye In the Sky <天眼> averaged 25 ratings points, with 1.62 million viewers tuning in. Eye in the Sky took over the time slot for comedy My Spiritual Ex-Lover <倩女喜相逢>, which had averaged in the 26-point ratings mark the week prior.
Him Law‘s (羅仲謙) Young Charioteers <衝線> averaged 23 ratings points in its first week of broadcast, attracting 1.48 million local viewers. Its ratings slipped three points compared to Raising the Bar <四個女仔三個BAR> in the prior week.
A Boost of Popularity With TVB’s Special Programming
While TVB’s drama viewership consistently dropped in recent months, their special programming and variety shows saw increased popularily. Although the legendary Super Trio variety series ended, Eric Tsang (曾志偉) paved the way for comedians such as Wong Cho Lam (王祖藍) to shine.
After finding success with Nancy Sit (薛家燕) in variety show Walk the Walk, Talk the Talk <Sunday扮嘢王>, where he showcased his impressive impersonations, Cho Lam’s new travelogue program with wife Leanne Li (李亞男), Celebrity Honeymooners <蜜月到訪>, surprisingly held a steady 20-point viewership rating, with 1.29 million viewers.
Following the success of Office of Practical Jokes <玩嘢王>, Johnson Lee (李思捷) impresses with new late night talk show, Sze U Tonight <今晚睇李>. The program increased by one point, climbing to 18 ratings points with 1.16 million viewers.

I think this series is a lil slow at getting to the main point for the story but overall its beta then watching Charioteers

Him law mentioned in a brief Interview he had difficulty trying to understand and figure out why his character would fall for Sisleys character. I can completely understand where his difficulty is coming from lmao. Her character is quite unlikeable in my eyes..
Hope the ratings pick up. Surely it is a much better drama than that nonsensical drama preceding it.

i think this drama can reach 30 points, it’s getting pretty exciting and isn’t draggy at all. having too handsome male leads doesn’t hurt either hahaha

the story doesn’t focus two main lead actors..
why is it focus on tavia seeking a person.. i got boring… didn’t laugh or smile.. I realized Tony character is cute.. I am still waiting to see Ruco’s character.. it doesn’t focus the main actors.. sigh~~~ hope it gain rating..
I like Eye in the Sky. It is so far pretty good. I wish that people will stop focusing so much on TV viewership. We are in a differnt era where people no longer alwasys sit in front of the TV watching a show during its broadcast. But that doesn’t mean people are not watching the drama. Many now just choose to watch it online or download it. This way we save time by not having to watch the commericals.
I haven’t watched much TVB for over 2 years in completion. I only want to know one thing, who is the main main MALE LEAD? haha LOL…Please say it’s RUCO? 🙂 I will give it a shot when it’s completed.

After watching these few episodes I like Ruco much more. Ruco is hotter, a better actor and is more intriguing. Kevin is just Kevin sometimes.
Ruco may be the second lead but his role is more exciting than Kevin’s. Can’t wait to see him turn from a seemingly nice guy to a scary crazed guy.

Sorry hard work doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll be rewarded. There’s such a thing called the luck factor in case you’re unaware. Ruco just lacks this.
Favourtism is the main factor for tbb’s tv king, more important than acting skill. Ruco’s acting surpasses many tv kings.
Yeah..hard work is not everything. Luck and opportunity also play a part. And of course not forgetting TVB politics and favourtism. Good scripts, good co-stars need to be taken into comsideration too. Ruco not getting TV King does not mean he’s not good enough. In fact, many will attest that Ruco’s acting is way better than those who were crowned TV King. No names mentioned…
Both Ruco and Kevin are good looking, I like both of them. can’t pick which one is better, they have their own style. I think 20 episodes are too short…it’s better if going for 30 episodes
Yeah this is true. Many are watching online on mytv.com. Eits has dominating viewership online for last week. Tvb shd revise their rating system to include online viewership. I’m sure it’s higher than 25. Anyway, the entire cast is acting well. Surprisingly in the past i can.t stand Tony but he seems cute in eits in his role. So far so good…more to come i’m sure as Kevin-Tavia-Ruco triangle develops 🙂
tVB has run out of ideas using the Twins plot line again.
It’s actually boring to see… You could guess that Ruco is Kevin,s brother after 3rd episode so no suspense left from there on.

Oh please that fact was never intended to be hidden from viewers! The suspense wasn’t about Ruco’s identity which was revealed purposely to viewers but more about Ruco’s character development! You should watch carefully!

EITS has topped MyTV.com for last week online viewing. Tvb shd take online viewership into account. Nice drama, going at a nice speed. Ratings shd be higher than 25. Cant wait for K-T-R triangle to develop. Tav is focusing on Kev, and Ru starts his move on Tav…wonderful 🙂

Actually from the synopsis itself one already knows the story roughly and so there is no such mystery you were expecting. It is how the characters develop along the way that should be interesting, like Ruco’s, for example. As the story unfolds it gets more interesting. I guess they’re Going on the right track.
It should be the other way round that “TV” rating of Eye in the Sky should be one point higher than My Spiritual ExLover, which ratings are:-

Many are watching online and Eye in the Sky has been dominating viewership online in mytv last week, doubled that of Young Charioteers.
Personally I don’t like this newspaper mingpao and also appledaily.
Actually, EITS is 3 points up than the previous series which averaged at 22. Misleading info from Ming Pao. Besides, the ratings are somewhat dragged down by YC. People who turn off tv may forget to reopen at 9:30

The viewership won’t affect me for the reason that I watch Eye in the Sky solely for Ruco; but episode 7 is boring to me because Ruco baby only appeared several minutes in total. I am tending to believe what somebody said that Ruco baby is not one of the main leads, i.e. he is only the 2nd or 3rd lead. OMG, how can TVB treat my baby like that???

Sorry guys, but I think Ruco Chan is one of the most overrated actors in TVB. I mean, he has the acting skills but why many people actually praise him highly.

It’s all in his facial expressions. The part when he received the surprise birthday celeb at his boss’s/brother’s home with his real family – without them knowing he is kin. His mixed emotions were very convincing. IMO

Yes, the part alone can win him an award this year!Very convincing.If Captain Cool can get an award for most popular I doubt why can’t Ruco. Chi lam part as Captain Cool is not difficult to portray. That is why I dun understand Chi lam can get an award and not Ruco for that year. Maybe he isn’t that popular in hongkong

@Teddybabe: I don’t think Ruco is overrated. He is really really good. The point is even if Ruco has landed a lousy script or being paired with newbies/2nd line artist, he still delivers a good and convincing performance! He never fails to disappoint even if it is a small production or not paired with big names. That’s how good this guy is. His eyes, brows, lips, facial expression can convey emotions in an apt way, not exaggerated or put-on. He can seriously take on any role…
Perhaps you should watch him in EITS before you pass judgement?
I’m actively following this series. For me, Ruco is a passable actor but not an excellent or a very good one.
Well acting is subjective. To me, he’s one of the best and the total package of looks talent and personality. Ep 8 just proves the wide range of acting ability he has.
The best is yet to come from him in this drama. Wait till he turns villain and you can see how truly versatile he is. He has acted as villain in supporting roles and very convincingly too so I’m sure he’ll deliver the goods again later in this drama. Just wait and see.

yeah, episode 8 is nice … and watching ruco really bring tears to my eyes and leaves my mind wandering … anticipating to watch more episodes as soon as possible.
Ep 8 showcases Ruco at his best. I’m sure as the drama unfolds and he morphs into this vindictive person, he’ll be even better ! Right now I think ep 8 is epic!

I haven’t chase a series for so long, this is one of them. Ruco def better than Kevin in acting. Kevin only look good in chok. But Ruco eyes very expressive. Really wish one day he Get More acknowledgement. He is always very good playing ke Lian character. I cried when his parent toOK him as kai jai. But he scared me In last scene. I found him have great chemistry with TH.
Btw, thank God Aimee is On maternity leaves now. I have to skip 2 Ruco`s drsma because of her.
Agree. Ruco and Tony’s chemistry is undeniable. They are very funny together with Ruco always teasing Tony with the head of housekeeping lady. I do feel that they connect emotionally in this drama. Love seeing the 2 of them bantering 🙂

in terms of expressions, ruco does a better job than kevin. ruco was very emotional when kevin’s parents accepted him as their godson but not long after, he was mean to the old woman for causing him to lose a happy childhood.

I honestly dont think we will expect high ratings because we can easily watch the drama online the next day or anytime we want. Compare to last time, internet isn’t that advance yet so the ratings are obviously higher.

I have been rooting for him for the last 2 years for his performance in BK and ROE. But luck is nver on his side, coupled with TVB politics and favoritism. Hopefully this year he will not be sidelined again. I hope TVB recognizes his value, talent and marketability (esp in overseas markets). Give him what he deserves before he gets poached away…
