Nominations for 2014 TVB Anniversary Awards
The 48th TVB Anniversary Awards ceremony will take place on December 15, 2014. With over 16 awards to be distributed, the winners will be selected through different methods.
The Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Drama awards will be chosen by a combination of viewers and professional judges. The My Favorite Male Character, My Favorite Female Character, and My Favorite Theme Song awards will be voted by viewers. The Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Most Improved Actor, and Most Improved Actress awards will be selected from TVB’s jury panel and all of the station’s artistes.

Agree. Carmen Lee and Loretta Lee should be nominated for Best Actress award in “Never Dance Alone” since every actress acted as lead roles in TVB drama series was nominated. It is not fair if they are not included in the nomination list. TVB does not have to give the award to them, but they should be fair to all artistes acted in TVB drama series.
they have no contract with tvb thats why,tvb only promote their contracted actors,this years list are biased than ever before.
No matter who wins,not everyone will be pleased. But I must say that the TVB awards have lost credibility years and years ago.
What the heck some of the nominations don’t make sense. Why Him Law for TV King in TC2? Why Grace Chan for Most Improved and Supporting Actress? Why none from M Club got nominated?

Ruco won’t get the awards despite deserving it because he’s not executive favourite. Raymond who left TVB is more favourited than own son Ruco. I wish Ruco can get Most Favourite Character too if not Best Actor but I doubt he can 🙁
Most Favourite Actor is based on 100% public votes so Ruco stands a good chance. Best Actor is based on public votes and TVB mgmt. And since Ruco is not favored by the TVB executive, then unlikely he will win even though he more than deserve this BA award. Ruco is just too good to be sidelined !!

I am glad ruco got nominate for roe. But he won’t win. Depending on how overachievers end it is between Wayne and roger. And gave will win most improved just because tvb will give her.

Ruco won’t win not becos he’s inferior to any of them. It’s just the politics of TVB. Like how they manipulated the Astro by changing the rules from 100% audience vote (Ruco clear winner) to 70/30 and nominating him for OL and not ROE. Since ROE bagged him the BA in SG, why did they change it to OL in Astro? Just doesn’t make sense. He shld compete in Astro with ROE, his stronger role. How come they didn’t change Roger’s nomination to Come On Cousin in Astro? Reason is becos his BHWS character is more memorable than COC. All fans know that this is Tvb’s dirty tricks.
I agree with anon, we all see that Roger is nominated for BHWS for both BA and My Fav Actor while Ruco is nominated for ROE and OL for BA and My Fav Actor respectively. Ruco may not be a winner but at least his roles as Carson and LKC (even Tin Yat Yuen) are all memorable roles. Btw, TBB already has the winner list so just wait and see 🙂
@Rita, I’m really disappointed with the results of the Astro. Such dirty tricks with rules changed at last minute, bluffing the voters that the TV King will be selected by them when in reality they already know who they’re going to give it to.
Coćo short answer is yes roe is a three year old series so his acting was a bit raw and overeager. E is up wgainst two older and more established veterans with more dramatic role qnd ho are more recent. He deserves the nomination but not a win. His time will come but maybe not this year. Anon the. Point of awards is nominating an actor for hid best perfotmance and so roger deserves his for bhws. Nothing to do with dirty tricks and roger doesnt need it and tvb doesnt need to cater to roger. From the list it is raymond lam i feel is the odd man.
Funn lim, of cos i know the nomination will be for the actor’s more outstanding role. That’s why Ruco shld hv been nominated for Roe in astro as that’s his stronger role especially if we’re talking about 70/30 basis of deciding winner. If 100% audience vote it won’t matter whether Roe or OL. In that respect tvb played dirty in astro.
Funn. Your answer is typically tbb. Ruco won over Roger(no bad regards for him, he’s a good actor) in Starhub with the same voting pattern-30/70, cos Roger was not even in top 5. Actually the title for the award was ‘best loved'(in Chinese) not best actor for both Star & Astro, so why can’t Ruco won again with definitely more votes(Roger supposed to ‘enter’ top 3 in round 2)? Heard the cheers from the crowd, Ruco’s much more popular whereas Bob has to ask for more applause for Roger who got the trophy in silence.

Agree with Anon. It’s not because Ruco is inferior to Wayne and Roger, but because Ruco is victim of TVB politics. No matter how good Ruco is, he can’t get past the politics.
We already got a taste of the politics from the AOD, so I think we’re ready this time for TVB politics.
Ruco is clearly more popular than Roger in Malaysia (and even Singapore). So if it’s genuinely based on what viewers vote, then Ruco is the winner for BA hands-down. But like what most people say, it’s the TVB politics that’s eluding Ruco the BA award at Astro. It’s unfair but that’s show biz. We (as Ruco’s fans) just need to continue to support him no matter what the end results is!!

It’s okay then. If TVB doesn’t want Carman Lee to win, HK viewers should at least vote Never Dance Alone as best drama of the year then!
How I wish that is the case. But from all those online polls done by HK viewers so far, it seems that Line Walker is going to win. Runner-up seems to be Black Heart White Soul, which is personally also my runner-up (my first choice is definitely Never Dance Alone).
In my opinion, Never Dance Alone had the heartfelt script, the refreshing narrative style, the timeless songs, the genuineness and just the right people needed to win Best Drama. Most importantly, it’s a story that naturally moves the audience.
The unnecessarily long nominees lists is not telling you who’s nominated but who is NOT getting nominated.

Exactly! All the most improved actresses don’t even deserve to be on there. Samantha relies on her body, I haven’t even seen Oceane for a long time plus she can’t even speak properly! LXW is annoying and overacts and too overrated.
Leanne Li deserves to be on Most Improved- she’s not good enough to be on BSA.TVB is deliberately leaving her out so we have to pick those three.

Roger has no competition for best actor this year. Roger is no doubt a talented actor but I think there’s no doubt that the screenwriters have a lot to do with it. Many people have the talent to win but Roger was the only one given a role that could showcase his talent. If TVB wants to promote its artist then it should produce better dramas with better roles.
That’s true, Ric. If the other competitors for BA lose to him, it is not becoz they are not as gd as him but he is lucky to land up with this role.
