It’s time to vote for the female celebrity that you believe deserves the title of the “2011 Sexiest Woman Alive in Hong Kong Award”! This poll was created by popular demand after Ruco Chan won JayneStars.com’s “2011 Sexiest Man Alive in Hong Kong Award,” a poll which captured mass interest, with votes pouring in from over 150 countries!
How Candidates Were Selected
Fifty female celebrities were selected as nominees for JayneStars.com’s “2011 Sexiest Woman Alive in Hong Kong Award.” The candidates included television and film actresses with recent projects released in Hong Kong, models, as well as socialites. Although their ages vary, they possess a unique and sexy aura that make each woman attractive in her own way.
How to Vote
Each person may place 1 vote every 24 hours. The full 24 hours must pass before you can place your vote again. For example, if you attempt to vote after 23 hours, you will be unable to do so.

You know I have always read that Michelle Reis is a “da mei ren”, “great beauty” when ranked by women. Most women want to look like her because she seems to have perfectly symmetrical features. However, I don’t think many guys top her in their list of most desirable. There is a difference between what guys see as pretty and women see as pretty.
For example, I think for Linda Chung, irregardless of her looks, and she does have pleasant looks, many guys support her because of her clean, fresh and sweet image. If today Linda suddenly behaves wantonly, e.g. release sex tapes, go the sexy siren route, etc, some original male fans will not be able to accept her. She might get other types of male fans.

Although I’m a female and can’t speak for a guy obviously, Tavia doesn’t seem to have a sexual allure or aura about her. I don’t think a woman needs to have a big chest to be sexy (Tavia’s quite flat), but her general appearance and behaviour just doesn’t make me think of her as conventionally sexy. Attractive and appealing? Yes. Sexy? No.

Don’t you think that the title “2011 Sexiest Woman Alive in Hong Kong” is a little catchier? Shu Qi filmed a lot of Hong Kong movies and while she is Taiwanese, she is somewhat embedded in the Hong Kong culture as Norika pointed out. Viann Zhang released a Hong Kong film this year with Alex Fong, so that qualifies her entry.

You can say that Shu Qi is a “local figure” in Hong Kong, because she’s well known, but she’s not “in” Hong Kong. Same reason with Viann Zhang, she only filmed a movie that got released in Hong Kong.
Say somebody like Jet Li releases a movie that is playing in Hong Kong, you wouldn’t consider him as people “in” Hong Kong. He’s only a public figure there.
You could try “2011 Sexiest Oriental Celebrity”, the title may be catchy it’s a bit off in my opinion.
+ Mavis Pan only caused controversy in Hong Kong because of relating to Raymond Lam.

It would be difficult to determine and justify the candidates’ qualifications based on technical parameters such as the amount of time they spent in Hong Kong. Rather, I based it on whether they are still a part of current Hong Kong entertainment culture. Due to the poll size, I limited it to 50 candidates, to give readers enough choice yet not spread the votes too thin, so I couldn’t include certain artists.
Yes, I did include Viann Zhang and Mavis Pan in the poll because of the well-known Hong Kong male celebrities they dated and the fact that they dominated Hong Kong tabloids and hence JayneStars.com coverage, which made them a much-discussed part of Hong Kong entertainment culture this year.
While you may question the technical eligibility requirements of certain candidates due to the poll name, I think the majority of the women would be considered as Hong Kong celebrities and thus their inclusion generally is acceptable. Now if we were to further examine the poll’s intent, which is to determine the “Sexiest” women, you may even make a case as to question whether certain celebrities qualify in this respect. Rather than analyze the technicalities over one or two possible candidates, I hope you focus on the rest of the candidates that you find to be eligible and support those candidates.
Anyhow, the nature of the poll is for fans to express who they find to be the Sexiest Woman in the Hong Kong area or part of current Hong Kong entertainment culture. While some readers may not agree 100% with the candidates, I think the majority qualifies. I do like the name of the poll, as it is catchy and fun, so the name of the poll will remain unchanged.

Well, I don’t think that “Sexiest” needs to be defined/examined because as you said, the opinions belong to the readers. However, I just think that the title is irrelevant. After looking at the candidates, I see that they are all of Chinese descent. The title would still sound catchy replacing Hong Kong with Chinese, rather than something like “Oriental Celebrities” as I suggested in my previous comment.
In my opinion, it’s just misleading.
Anyways, I guess you’re just going to stick with the current title, so I’m going to hop off this conversation.
you guys said that sexy is related to something evil but attractive, a beauty that all men and women want to possess no matter what even just one time in their life. kate and other actresses are beautiful, yes, it’s undeniable but my feeling does not rocket when I see their beauty or their image in the sexy style. So how can I vote for them ?
