No comment on the winners, since I didn’t watch any TVB shows this past year (first time in more than 30 years), though I do have partiality toward Lesley Chiang, mainly because I’m a huge fan of her entire family (have been for decades). Winners aside, I definitely agree that the show was well put together this year compared to previous years — though this is not surprising considering Eric Tsang is at the helm on the variety show side – he’s proven his talent at all levels over the years, that’s for sure. The presenters list was also amazing, which again is not surprising given the fact that Eric is the most well-connected entertainer in all of Asia (like I said before, TVB finally made a non-bonehead decision by kicking out the deadbeats in the form of Mark Lee, Sandy Yu, etc. and bringing Eric back in executive capacity).
In terms of favorite segments: the fact that they had the nominees for best host share in the hosting responsibilities for the ceremony; the Lifetime Achievement award segment; the Professionalism award segment, the In Memoriam segment (loved what they did this year – 2021 was a difficult year, as we lost so many veterans, almost all of them who made huge contributions to TVB, so it was nice to see them recognized in that way rather than just a quick 2 second flash on the screen). For the presenters, I enjoyed Lo Hoi Pang and Meg Lam’s segment (those 2 are funny as heck and Pang Gor is a master at ad-libbing) the most, followed by Bobby and Bowie (I laughed so hard at Bobby making fun of his buddy Michael Tao – and Bowie’s reaction was priceless!). Oh I also liked Lau Kong and Law Kar Ying’s segment (I’m probably one of the few people who actually watched and remembered that TV series they were talking about, lol…that whole banter brought back so many memories!). Aside from that, it was nice to see so many “old-timers” whom most audiences hadn’t seen in a long time, both in the audience as well as presenting…
