Hong Kong Film Awards Nominees Receives a Photo Shoot Treatment
The Hong Kong Film Awards Association has awarded their HKFA nominees with a portrait treatment. In honor of the 32nd Hong Kong Film Awards, which will be held on April 13 at the Hong Kong Cultural Center, the nominees gathered together to do a photograph feature for the awards ceremony.
Nominees such as Miriam Yeung (楊千嬅), Pang Ho Cheung (彭浩翔), Nick Cheung (張家輝), Tony Leung Chiu Wai (梁朝偉), Tony Leung Ka Fai (梁家輝), Sammi Cheng (鄭秀文), Sean Lau (劉青雲), Chapman To (杜汶澤), Gordon Lam (林家棟), and first timers Elanne Kwong (江若琳), Sammy Shum (沈震軒), and Alex Tsui (徐家傑) glamorized the photo shoots with their chic fashion and expensive jewelry.
First-time nominee, Elanne Kwong, expressed that she was so thrilled to do the photo shoot that she could not sleep the night before. Elanne is nominated for Best Actress for her weightlifting role in Love Lifting <高舉愛>. She revealed that she gained over 20 pounds for the role and had to undergo excruciating weightlifting training at the same time.
Sammi Cheng is nominated for Best Actress for her role in the romantic drama, Romancing In Thin Air <高海拔之戀II>. This will be Sammi’s fourth nomination for Best Actress and fifth nomination at the Hong Kong Film Awards.
Sammi is grateful for the support of the Hong Kong Films Award Association, and is thankful for her two teachers, director Herman Yau (邱禮濤) and Johnnie To (杜琪峯). “Herman was the one who guided me into this industry. Johnnie is both my friend and teacher, and I really hope to win the Film Queen honor with his film.”

Go, go, Tony Leung (I am rooting for both Big and Small Tonys)!! 😀
Look at both of them seated on the couch like suave and cool mafia bosses. *swoon*

predictions:
Best Picture: Cold War
Best Director: Pang Ho-Cheung or Longman Leung/Sunny Luk…..uhhhhh….Longman and Sunny
Best Actor: Chapman (you’ll see!)
Best Actress: Elanne Kong
Best Supporting Actor: Chapman To (he’ll win this if he doesn’t get the best actor award)
Best Supporting Actress: Mavis Fan
Best Action Design: Jackie Chan =(
Best Visual Effects: Jackie Chan’s crew =((
Best Film of Mainland and Taiwan: GF*BF, and it will be a travesty if anything else wins
Best New Director: Roy Chow
I’d also like to comment that I’m glad I’m not a betting man.
Cold War was really cold and boring IMO. The production values are amazing, but the story wasn’t anything special. Most of the films nominated weren’t that great. I liked Motorway and Vulgaria.
Vulgaria was hilarious, but it’s definitely too crass for the ultra conservative HK film award voters (many of whom are in their 40s-50s).
Chapman To’s got a good chance to win both Best Actor and Best Supporting.
Vulgaria is Chapman To’s best work and I hate how they’re going to throw the best actor award to one of the Tony’s. Even worse if it’s Big Tony since he only appeared in like 1/4 of the movie. Or even small Tony, damn, Silent War was boring.
nick cheung in white again might win again
Sorry guys. Tony Leung is gonna win best actor for Cold War.
Little Tony looks like a kid in the group picture! 🙂
I wonder if this is the very first time such a photoshoot took place? At least HK film awards now understand an award show is a SHOW. Perhaps they might consider cutting down on the echo of live shows and finding better hosts and cut out those idiotic banters between presenters which was always a pain to watch and just tell the winners to make longer speeches. As to who will win, definitely not Sammie Cheng and Elann Kwong? See, you guys complain about her acting and see, she is nominated here. But since this is an award show where one year Sammie Cheng was nominated for like 3 movies or so in the same category, it is in the end a joke. And look at the actors’ list; same old same old. HK movie industry is small.
Nice pictures, very stylish and I like almost all of the nominees.
Sigh francis Ng is understated!!!
F*** this gay earth.
