Raymond Lam Turns Down “Golden Duck” Because of Karena Ng’s Jealousy?
Sandra Ng’s (吳君如) comedy Golden Chicken 3 <金雞sss> generated over $40 million HKD at the Hong Kong box office. Taking a new spin on the popular franchise again, Sandra plans to focus on male prostitutes in the sequel Golden Duck <12金鴨>.
Personally inviting Louis Koo (古天樂) to come back as the prostitute king, Sandra plans to add 11 of today’s hottest male actors to the cast. Sandra also hoped to secure Raymond Lam (林峰), who recently signed with EEG.
Initially, Raymond was very interested in accepting the risqué project. Due to the sexual content of Golden Duck, the movie would not be screened in the Mainland Chinese market. As a result, EEG hesitated in letting Raymond star in the film.
Raymond ultimately turned down the movie because his girlfriend Karena Ng (吳千語) was highly against his participation. An insider said, “Karena said she didn’t want her boyfriend to be touched by other women. He also can’t film intense kiss scenes. Because his girlfriend was jealous, Raymond turned down the movie.”
Golden Duck will feature Louis Koo, Wilfred Lau (劉浩龍), Baby John (蔡瀚億), Shawn Yue (余文樂), Pakho Chau (周柏豪), Eddie Peng (彭于晏), and Anthony Wong (黃秋生).

Award winning actors have acted in the Golden Chicken series. So, Golden Duck is certainly not beneath Raymond. Is Raymond a more famous and actor than Louis Koo, Andy Lau, Nick Cheung, Tony Leung Ka Fai and Jacky Cheung?

Ivana Wong has a good girl image and she played a prostitute in ‘Golden Chickensss’. Instead of her image being tarnished, she got more recognised as a good actress and getting more opportunity to act.

“Lan Kwai Fong” is movie for newcomers to take off their clothes to make a name for themselves. Raymond doesn’t need to do that. Wilson’s Chin’s movies aren’t highly rated…they are just skin flicks.
I think Raymond’s best bet may be to balance between romantic films and more mainstream crime/action films. Louis Koo carved a very successful niche for himself by balancing both.

Don’t underestimate movies like this. It is hyped a lot in HK according to HK people and this movie will help Raymond gets his publicity. His other movies before this hasn’t generate much commercial success or hype in HK.

Golden Chicken installments is a commercial blockbuster with lots of hype that can help make him popular since he needs that publicity since he’s still recognized as a TV face and idol right now despite full backup from EEG to make him a heavenly king.
Artists should have the freedom to select roles for themselves and do not need to explain or apologize for their actions! Who is this “insider” claiming Karena as the culprit in this instance! Once again the HK doggie press is using a sensational story to sell their rags!
I don’t see ‘Golden Chickenss’ as trash or low class or silly popcorn movie. The movie has a lot of social commentaries, but, they put it in a comedic way. I’m sure ‘Golden Duck’ will be in the same mold.
But, seeing the comments of some of his fans, I think Raymond better not take this movie. There might be many such fans in his fanbase who need him to has a pristine clean image.
