Chilam Cheung Splurges $4.5 Million on Ferrari to Reduce Stress?
Chilam Cheung (張智霖) just treated himself to a $4.5 million Ferrari 458 Speciale sports car. Known as a luxury car enthusiast who is very particular about his ride, Chilam formerly drove a 2009 black Lamborghini, whose current owner is Angelababy. Although Chilam’s income soared this year, he became overly stressed from the never-ending work projects. He bought the Ferrari to reward himself and provide temporary relief from his reported anxiety disorder.
After Triumph in the Skies 2 <衝上雲霄2>, Chilam’s film and music careers have been revived. He is very popular in Mainland China, where he won numerous television awards his year. Releasing his new album, Déjà vu, in January, he will be performing at the Hong Kong Coliseum from July 6 to 8 in the “Chilam Crazy Hours Live 2014” concert.
Tickets have been selling quickly and Chilam has already been immersed in preparation for the concert. Although his commitment to two film projects left him little time to take a break, Chilam has been attending daily meetings regarding concert planning. He also needs to train his physique for the stage.
“As to what score others give you, it all depends on your stage performance,” Chilam explained that he will still need to carry the show on his own shoulders despite a team of dedicated staff assigned to help him during the concert.
Tabloids claim that Chilam has been suffering from an anxiety disorder. Eager for a thrill ride to soothe his stress, Chilam made a compulsive purchase on a red Ferrari 458 Speciale, in which only one model is currently available in Hong Kong due to its elite status.
“I’m very happy now. Under work stress, I will exercise a lot to improve my mood. I don’t have a problem now,” Chilam clarified. Although his wife, Anita Yuen (袁詠儀), is known to have a tighter hand over money, Chilam said that Anita did not complain about the purchase. “Guys like these things, while women like other things.”

What an expensive way to relieve stress! We wish we could all do it.!
What a stupid move……….at his age, no car can relieve any type of stress unless there is a hot woman inside the car with you…………what he needs is a few good romps with some hot babes. That will unwind any stress he has.
lol, is Chilam still riding on the TITS 2 high mentality? This guy needs to reevaluate everything and slow down, as well as not being too arrogant.
He’ll probably continue to be arrogant until everyone forgets who Captain Cool is………..hahaha…….
wow>>>>lol seriously??? does have a lot of money
just to buy that Ferrari sports car and is so so so expensive $4.5million just to buy that stupid sports
car>>>> lol
He’s been in Anita Yuen’s shadow for the last decade and a half… so he might as well enjoy the limelight while he has it. I think he’s done quite well as a man being in the shadow of a successful woman for so long…
I dont think anita as popular as he is…
Back in the day, Anita in the 90s…. esp with movies was pretty popular… most ppl thought she was marrying ‘down’ by marrying Chilam at the time!!
captain cool become captain stress? not good for his image…
“Chilam Cheung Takes Family on Free Trip to Maldives”
Payback time buddy.
Is it in HKD? If it is, it is not expensive at all… compared to car prices in Singapore. You need at least 6 million HKD to get a Ferrari over here.
omg
I knew that living in Singapore is expensive, but even car are that expensive??? How do the non rich survive in Singapore??
By living within their means, like everywhere else.
World most expensive city
What do you expect?
“By living within their means, like everywhere else.”
Agreed!
Living within your means is one thing but in an area where the standard of living is so high, you literally struggle and skip meals just to survive. I live in an area with a high standard of living but not as expensive as Singapore. No wonder everyone thinks only the wealthy can live well in Singapore.
What an expensive way to relieve stress?? I am sure there are way cheaper ways to do so.
If he want to destress how about going on the roller coaster ride at Ocean Park? At least it wouldn’t cost $4.5M!!!
He seems a bit childish to me and self centred. He is married and have kid(s?). Wouldn’t the money be better spent on providing a good home, good education and security to his family be more important than buying a ferrari? Yes. treat yourself by all means but think about your family too!
Well for all you know, their assets and wealth may be stable enough so that this purchase won’t really put a dent in the family financially. Personally, I’d rather spent the money on other things too.
Just goes to prove that boys never grow up, their toys just become more expensive.
Yup, not just chilam, my partner and his friend, though not rich, always have their dream car ready in case any of them got rich, not uncommon if chilam, who loves car, decided to spend a huge chunk on a Ferrari lol. Worthless news hahaha
Have you heard of “If you don’t have a big don’t wear a big hat”. LOL!
head. LOL!
You got that right.
head. LOL!
LOL!
It’s not to relieve stress chi lam loves cars if some stress yeh buy a 4.5m car it will help
Is this even worth to be news?
Good for him! Why not! He is spending his own money! ENJOY, Chilam!
Chilam looks like he either had a look of Botox injections or ate too much shellfish and swelled up from this photo. The photo makes him look too artificial or plastic or maybe it is true that that is his current up-close look.
Well.. It’s not stupid move!! Some people has their way to relieve stress. Woman shop and eat when they’re stress too. So no big deal! If he can afford it,,, y not!!! Whoever said that is a stupid move, you’re just being jealous!!!
I second that.
Well if u can make money then u have the right to spend money the way u wanted it to be spend…just do what u feel good…support that mentallity. Such a great motivation to make more money …
Driving the red Ferrari would turn Chilam into a real Captain Cool. He obviously sounds the flamboyant type. But I suppose if he really has that type of money to spare, why not?
people like chi lam earns 100mil a year!!?? Spending 4.5mil on a car…it’s pale in comparison to what he earns…
Good for Chilam. I always thought he was a good looker and wanted for him to be back in the spotlight. Glad for him that his role in TITS2 propelled him to where he is now. Able to afford those luxuries you dream of is a dream come true. It’s his choice how he wishes to spend his money. Power to him. I’m certain that he has already thought about his family’s financial stability before the purchase. My husband has a thing for watches. I don’t even dare question him if he wants to buy a new watch. He works damn hard for the family. He needs to reward himself sometimes. It provides an incentive for him to strive higher. I support ur decision Chilam! Make your family proud by bringing home the bacon 🙂
hes having a classic MID LIFE CRISIS.
Everybody wants a nice car. If he can afford it, why not?
Why can’t he just take a couple of Ativan like everyone else! Ah… Whatever makes him happy I suppose.
I find this so contradictory. I remember him complaining about how Prince William and Kate spent so much money on their wedding and how all of that money could have gone to the poor. But now he splurges all this money on just a car? True it is his money, but for him to complain about the amount of money of another person’s wedding is not right either.
A car can be used in long term while a wedding is just a moment. I guest it is his logic.
However, to criticize someone for how they spend their money is ridiculous in any case. Their money, their way to spend.
In Chilam’s case,it is his hard earned money but in the case of Prince William and Kate, is it considered their money? Or is it the public’s money?

Will you be telling prince charles and queen elizabeth not to spend money on their son/grandson.
HeTieShou, the Royal family does business to earn money. You have no idea how much they can earn thank to the royal title. I consider it as their money. The public does pay them to be royal symbol.
Of course I will not tell them how to spend their money. If it is their money, they can spend how they like.
“how Prince William and Kate spent so much money on their wedding and how all of that money could have gone to the poor. ”
Silly complain. Their wedding is a public event and no future king and queen should ever marry in a “poor” way. And their lives will be dedicated to the promotion of the monarchy through charity.Their one action is worth the 1000 times action by anyone else and their wedding is a joy shared by many.
i am not a fan of monarchy….not entirely sure what they truly contribute to….go around saying hi in the most fashionable way…spending public money…
Money well spent since the tourism in england is in a big part is due to them. As for their usefulness, see king george Vi and his wartime contributions. All affection is due to that one pivotal decision.
Just because he is a prince does not make his wedding special, especially we are not living in the ancient era where monarchy was practiced. We are living in an era where everyone is equal under the law. His wedding is just cheap publicity to gain attention from all around the world. His wedding contributes nothing to the world but is used only to promote monarchy and to earn money from publicity.
I thought english tourism industry relied on football?
Let’s wait the time they get divorced. More publicity at that time.
William and Kate, the filthy rich “their s.h.i.t don’t stink”. LOL!
I thought english tourism industry relied on football?
I can tell you: No.
If you’ve money, at least you can buy something expensive to so called “relief your stress”
People release stress by taking a vacation, laying at the beach, sipping cocktails at the pool etc, not drop 4.5 mil on a car, that is call a mid-life crisis
how many more times can he relieve stress like that? lmao
HK’s version of Charlie Sheen minus all the skills, qualities and women.
