Eason Chan’s New Single “Steady Bliss” Critically Praised
Award-winning singer Eason Chan’s (陳奕迅) latest single has been earning raving reviews from colleagues, critics, and music lovers alike.
The multi-platinum-selling singer released his latest Mandarin single “Steady Bliss” <穩穩的幸福>, the theme song for the upcoming mainland Chinese Lunar New Year film, Better and Better <越来越好之村晚>, earlier last week. Within hours, the single became one of the most downloaded songs in recent months, surpassing even the new singles released by recent mainland Chinese singers.
Numerous critics noted the song’s simple yet high quality production, including the composition, arrangement, lyrics, and Eason’s soulful voice. Netizens praised the song for its simplicity and slow style; the entire orchestration of the song gives the listener a sense of “warmth and coziness.”
A netizen commented, “Eason Chan’s low and whispering voice makes me want to put this song on repeat.” Another netizen gushed, “I feel like I’m watching a movie as I listen to Eason sing.”
Many fellow artists, including the actors in the film, promoted the single through their Weibo blogs. Tong Dawei (佟大为) wrote, “His voice will always seep into your brain and take over your heart. The song is mournful and stirs the soul. You will be enlightened.”
Na Ying (那英), Vicki Zhao (趙薇), Karen Mok ( 莫文蔚), and Li Bingbing (李冰冰) also strongly recommended the single on their Weibo. Award-winning actress Yao Chen (姚晨), who currently has the largest following on Weibo, reblogged the single’s music video and wrote, “I hope everything will get ‘better and better’ in 2013.”
“Steady Bliss” is produced and written by famous mainland Chinese songwriter Xiao’e (小柯), who also wrote the song’s lyrics. “This song has almost nothing extra added to it,” said Xiao’e, when explaining the song’s simple style. “It is completely green and free from distractions. There is only one trick to this song: so simple that it cannot be simpler anymore. From the lyrics, to the composing, to the performing, to the instrumentals, and to post-production, everything can be traced to the same origin.”
Eason said, “When I was singing this song, I felt like I was looking over a field of endless white snow. Very peaceful. Very pure.”

is this considered to be a very good song and critically praised? i think this song is nothing special, neither the sound nor the lyrics.its just average.
I agree.
Agreed. I supposed it’s all about preference.
Triple agree
i like the orchestra in the background and his song is alright … not something that will hit my most played list.
I agree. Its nothing overly special. But I think if you actually listen to it a few times it becomes sort of like an addiction. Cause the melody is pretty good.
damn yeung sui n sht attitude
eason’s grin is so fake
I still don’t know how this chubby, short and ugly looking dude is the best HK singer right now. His style is frikkin weird and his hair looks like a mop.
LOL!! everybody has their turn to shine…
Are they kidding me? Critically acclaimed!? After reading the article I was expecting some fantastic performance. This song is not that great! His rendition is also not that great! He sounds exactly like a Cantonese speaker singing mandarin, heavily accented. But besides the accent he’s OFF keyed! Omg. He’s suppose to be the next jacky cheung. You must be kidding me. Ding! People are nuts to think this guy sings well. All I can say is when a person have luck, even when s/he have mediocre talent, will draw an audience and “critically acclaimed” praises. Omg. I am still dumbfounded by this guy’s success as a singer.
What is a noob song? Nothing special at all..
