Edison Chen Hopes to Inspire Youths Through His Music

Together with MC Yan (MC仁) and Chef (厨房仔), Edison Chen (陳冠希) hopes to use his music from the album Three Angles <三角度> to relay the message of “Be Yourself, Believe in Yourself” to the youths today through his music.
On Saturday afternoon, Edison was in Foshan with his good friends, MC Yan and Chef to promote their upcoming concert in China on March 30, entitled Three Angles. This is a follow-up to their album by the same name which was released in July last year. Edison described the concert as his life journey and hopes to share his experiences through the songs with his fans. He also hopes that concert-goers, especially the youths will listen intently to his songs and learn to accept themselves as they are, regardless of the setbacks which they have encountered.
The album, Three Angles, was a collaboration among Edison, MC Yan and Chef. The three angles refer to the angles in a triangle. Because the triangle is a symbol of stability and strength, Edison hopes the songs in the album will be able to inspire the listeners to have courage, faith and persistence, just like the shape. Using their signature hip-hop style, the three singers will use the songs from the Confusion and Three Angles albums to look into the main problems of society, especially focusing on what the youths are going through in life now.
Using Music to Inspire
Talking about the theme “Be Yourself, Believe in Yourself”, Edison revealed that, having gone through so much in his life, he has become more matured and has changed his outlook in life. He shared, “When I was younger, I would think of how others regard me – my manager, the media, etc. Now, I am sure of what I want and I want to show that side of me to everyone. I am not making music to earn more money. I only want to use my music to share my stories. And hopefully the youths will listen to my songs and be inspired by them. This is what music is all about.”
Edison is preparing to release his next Mandarin album. Though the 32-year-old did not reveal the theme of the album, it appears to follow the footsteps of his previous one, which is used to encourage the youths of today to stand against failures and be courageous to themselves. Edison revealed his life goal now is to be happy in the things he does. He added, “I used to think that making more than $20 million USD will make me happy. Even if I make only $2,000 USD but can do the things I love every day, I’m happy.”
To prove his point that money does not buy happiness, the ticket prices for Edison Chen EDC Three Angles Concert costs as low as $180 RMB to reach out to all listening ears.

I just want to get a word in before you Edison fans go absolutely rabid and attack me (again): if you really think glorifying nightclub life (http://www.jaynestars.com/music/edison-chen-and-mc-hotdogs-new-single-what-time-is-it/) by making a PV about irresponsible intake of alcohol, taking drugs and promiscuous sexual relationships is anything good, then you can go to hell, because you’re just an easy skank who will open your legs to anyone with a cute face even if he’s a goddamn murderer.

And I also hope that you people can recognize that this guy never had to work a day in his life to get to where he is. He was scouted while at a nightclub and started modelling. So whatever struggles he will sing about hoping to inspire you, just know that it’s BS.
Also, for the record, I don’t hate Edison. It’s just that I dislike how fake he is. I’m also not impressed by his rabid fangirls who can’t think for themselves, but then again, if you’re a fan of Edison then I suppose there’s no hope for you in the first place.

His album was actually pretty good, don’t base your assumptions if him just because of one music video. Actually his album wasn’t even about sex, drugs or partying at all. It reflects on everyone’s youth struggles during school, their goals, achievements and first deceit by a person to name a few. That single he did with MC HD, Cheif and Sam Lee was just for entertainment purposes just like JT did with his Junk in a box MV. It’s really not a big deal.

To be honest, I don’t give a crap about the actual content of his scandal. It’s TOTALLY normal to make sex videos of your other half, but I’m pretty annoyed that instead taking a stand like a man, he had to flee to Canada and let the ladies deal with it. HK is still a conservative, slightly mysogynistic society (“leftover girl” WTF?) and even though I don’t like Gillian, she must have felt enormous pressure being the first to speak out like that. He definitely could’ve handled the situation better, and probably should’ve apologized to the girls for being careless in storing the videos. There are many ways of encrypting sensitive videos so that if your computer is stolen, the thief won’t be able to look at those videos.
