Ellen Chan Owes Millions in Debt to Pan Mei Chen?
After Ellen Chan’s (陳雅倫) romantic rumors with Johnson Lee (李思捷) surfaced, Ellen has been accused of owing millions of debt to Taiwanese singer, Pan Mei Chen (潘美辰). Ellen’s relationship with Mei Chen is also ambiguous, as they reported to have lived together for some time.
According to Mei Chen, Ellen borrowed several millions RMB from her four years ago and has not repaid the debt. Mei Chen denied that she has known Ellen for many years, claiming they only had a working relationship that lasted half a year. “In June 2009, I met Ellen at Catherine Hung’s (洪欣) wedding. We were both invited for the dinner. I held my Taiwan concert in January 2010 and a close friend of mine told me that Ellen needed a job and money so I invited her to be my guest star at the concert. After the concert ended, we have not been in contact since so we only knew each other for six months. Reports that claim we have cohabited for two years [in Beijing] are not true.”
Mei Chen stressed, “Of course I hope it’s not her (Ellen) who told reporters baseless stories. I don’t want to say bad things about others; I just want to tell you how I feel about her. If people want to stir trouble, I want to know who this person is.”
When asked why she did not chase Ellen to repay the debt, Mei Chen said she is not a calculative person. If Mei Chen is in need of money one day, she will definitely ask Ellen for the repayment of her debt.
Mei Chen said, “I did not look for her (Ellen) because she is a scary person; everyone knows that she is not someone to mess with. I am not close to her so if I can avoid her, I would do so.” According to Mei Chen, when Ellen was the guest star at her concert, she acted like a superstar. She kept demanding for things and charged all her medical fees to the company.
Ellen retorted via WhatsApp, “I will not respond to untrue reports. I do not like my name to be used for someone else’s publicity.” Mei Chen’s assistant rebuked that the Taiwanese singer is quite well known in Hong Kong and does not need to use Ellen’s name for promotion.
Ellen’s Background
Ellen entered the industry by joining a singing competition in 1985. Though she started out as a singer, she found greater fame in the 1990s Hong Kong film industry. Ellen’s love life has been colorful. Aside from her 11-year relationship with musician Huang Shangwei (黃尚偉), she was also rumored to be romantically involved with Francis Ng (吳鎮宇), Anthony Wong (黃秋生) and Johnson Lee (李思捷).
Mei Chen’s New Girlfriend
Mei Chen was in Hong Kong recently to promote her upcoming Hong Kong concert, which will be held in August. Accompanying Mei Chen was Joanna Moon, part of her Eagle and Moon partnership. Eagle is Mei Chen’s English name. It was rumored that Moon is Mei Chen’s new girlfriend.
When probed on the relationship between the two, Mei Chen said, “We indeed get along well. If people were to ask me if we are together, we are indeed together every day, but what’s the meaning of ‘together’?” Mei Chen further stressed that, “I love her very much; she also loves me very much. But if you asked if we had sex, that’s another level altogether and we have not reached there yet. I am a straight forward person, I will not give answers falsely.”

Wow, Pan Mei Chen! I totally forgot about her, I was probably 5 years old and remember looking at the tv thinking is that a man with a woman’s hair or is that a woman with a man’s voice. Oh, the difficulties of being a 5 year old.
wait… so its a her? and shes a lesbian right? Who is she i’ve never heard of her! was she popular back then?
Yea she was popular in the 90’s I think, I was too young to remember, but she came on tv, so she must be right? Lol.

Younger generations would prolly not know who she is. I think she’s quite popular in late 80s/early 90s. Back when I was still in school, one of her song I like is ‘wo xiang you ke jia’.
I’m not surprised if the rumors are true. Multiple sources seem to imply Ellen as a crazy person. If the rumors between her and Johnson are true, both are just despicable. The media totally glossed over her relationship with Huang Shangwei. She basically toyed him along. Even William So, who was their mutual friend, called her out on it.
