Kate Tsui Will Not Pursue Singing Career
Although there were rumors that TVB is looking to sign her to their music artiste, Kate Tsui (徐子珊) clarified that she has no desire to re-start her singing career.
Kate made her first foray into the music industry in 2009 when she released an EP album of dance hits. Even though her effort won her several best newcomer awards, her singing career was cut short when her record label went out of business the following year. She continued to perform live at public functions and has contributed to a few TVB ending themes. However, while other top line artistes such as Raymond Lam (林峯) and Linda Chung (鍾嘉欣) have already released several full-length albums, Kate seems to have instead stepped back from the music scene.
She recently returned to the studio with singer Hubert Wu (胡鴻鈞) to record the ending theme for new drama The Ultimate Addiction <點金勝手>. When she revealed that TVB’s record label boss Herman Ho (何哲圖) was present to observe the session, some speculated that Ho may be about to offer Kate a music contract. She denied the rumors quickly and at a radio program on June 4, emphasized once again that she has no plans to return as a singer. “Acting suits me better. I am already satisfied that there are people who appreciate my music.”
Currently busy promoting The Ultimate Addiction, Kate jokingly complained about co-star Bosco Wong‘s (黃宗澤) frequent absences at promotional events due to his Mainland work commitments. She also debunked Nancy Wu‘s (胡定欣) plastic surgery rumors, assuring that any changes to Nancy’s nose were likely caused by camera angles. Herself once embroiled in plastic surgery gossips, Kate expressed that while she respects others’ decision to go under the knife, she is actually too afraid of needles to do the same.

She was on VIP show. The best host on VIP is Carlo Ng. He make the guest feel comfortable and like to joke around. Astrid Chan gotta go. She’s horrible and boring. She was trying too hard when Eddie Kwan was on the show.
JTTW will end on June 27. They should of cut 40 episodes instead of 5 episodes. Oh well
i agree with your opinions 100%. i love carlo. he’s funny and is on friendly terms with nearly all his guests. i can’t stand astrid. she ass kisses all the first line veterans and asks the dumbest questions. it was a few years ago but i still remember when she first started on the show, she was interviewing liza wang and her husband. every second sentence she said to liza was “lei ho sai lei ah!!” (you’re so great!). then a couple of months after that, she interviewed wayne lai and sheren tang (which i was really looking forward to) and she was making all these stupid observations towards wayne like “i can see you’ve withdrawn from your character because it’s in your eyes”. ugh! it was soooo embarrassing to watch. please just kick her off.
Yes, I like Carlo too. He makes the interviews lighthearted and funny. I remember there was one episode on the laughing movie which invited Bosco, Kate and Janice Man. I really enjoyed that episode.
Astrid did a terrible job interviewing Gigi Wong’s son. Knowing he can’t speak chinese that well and Astrid did not help him. She just sat there and waiting for the show to be over. I felt bad for him. All the VIP male hosts could of done a better job than her.
i don’t bother with episodes in which she is the host, even if it features my one of my favourite celebs. i just don’t want to listen to her stupid questions. i’m sure that particular episode was bad, as are all her others
@Best: Good to see I wasn’t the only one who noticed. That interview was so hard to sit through — I felt so sorry for Shaopin (Gigi’s son) and absolutely wanted to slap Astrid for her stupid questions and fake, overly saccharine “oh you are so cute” comments. Argh!
Carlo is hilarious but Astrid is very fake and annoying!

Well, i think Myolie sings quite well from the TVB bunch. I was impressed but not sure why she did not pursue further.
Myolie, seriously? Lol sorry, she can’t sing either. In fact none of the female leads in TVB can sing.
If you do not count the leads, I think they have some singing talent in Txb such as Loretta Chow.
There are a few artistes in TVB that have singing talents but a majority of those that had albums or just sing because they think they can because they saw some success from actors turn singers…those are the worst.
If you’re talking about Female leads as in current Fadans, imo Tavia can sing..but she only sings for functions/events, but you can hear that she does have a singing voice. Whereas Kate, Linda…when they sing live, the strain in their voice while they ‘sing’ is just horrible D;

Clementine, I know you are a big fan but to compare with Linda, Tavia’s singing is more terrible. Linda has problem with her live singing but at least her voice is sweet and her singing technique is not bad. Kate has bad voice but she can perform which makes her performance entertaining. Tavia does not have both when her voice is monotone and she performs woodenly. Last time I saw her singing, she was out of tune. I suggest her to stop singing songs of Sammi and Joey because they are out of her league. Perhaps if she sings songs of Linda, it would be better because Linda’s songs do not require many singing technique.
I think they should try to improve their acting which is already a lot of work,so why to tackle singing? Singing is not an easy skill to master. I hope they are not doing it just for the money. I feel it is sad to embarrass yourself just for money.
I also think Tavia’s singing is bad. I hope she just concentrates on her acting and stops singing because she clearly does not have the talent or skill to sing at all. I am fine with her as an actress, but singing and acting are 2 different categories.
I am a fan of Tavia, and for sure that Tavia is not good at singing. That’s why she didn’t start her singing carrer like Myolie Wu and Bernice Liu who debuted around the same time.
She sings at events and functions because she has to. It’s like other actors and actresses who sing at events to please the viewers. Some of them really don’t like to sing. Tavia is one of them
One of the only people who can sing from the TVB group is Raymond Lam.
Agree totally that Raymond can sing, except it’s gotten worse over the years and he sings a lot of crappy songs. I also think Steven Ma and Ruco can sing. Linda is not bad it’s just she does not get enough time to pursue in that area. Needs more practice and singing lessons and also more confidence on stage.
Basically, most TVB artists who released albums, especially those who released only one album/EP and never professionally sang again, were forced to do it by their management. If they succeed in that area, then great, the manager makes more money. If not a success, then never mind.

Hubert Wu is a fantastic singer. He will cover whatever she lacks as long as she sings on cue and in tune.

I think it’s her hairstyle in this series that affects the way she looks. Her hair is parted to the left with some waves throughout her locks whereas in other previous series (i.e. Bounty Lady), her hair is completely straight and parted in the middle. I personally don’t like her hairstyle in this series, it just doesn’t suit her. On a side note, I actually think Toby Leung looks pretty good with longer hair, it’s much better in comparison to her shorter looks.
What’s up with Kate’s hair lately?? She’s been sporting very unsuitable curled blunt bangs with and weirdly curled hair that ive seen in her recent promo events..very unflattering if you ask me o_O makes her face a lot wider and flat.
She probably inject concrete to her face.

I think she’s just on a wrong diet that’s making her bloat instead of slim down. Cause it’s not just her face that’s puffy, her body is kinda too. When she’s not filming and has time for exercise, she looks better.

dafuq dude she was a cop but she resigned in episode 5. so she was only a cop for 1/6 of the drama. GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT BEFORE HATING LOL. anyway, so what if she’s a cop again she portrays them pretty well.

Finally found someone like me!!! To be honest, Kate’s face/look is what attracts me to her. Of course I like her acting. And her dancing is just great!
Anyone that can hold a pitch will sound great under a studio. They already have made a name in the HK TV industry, if they have never sung before, why pursue it? I am trying to pursue a music career, but i do not know how it will turn out. Any of you guys want to judge me? I think out of TVB’s fadans, the only ones who can sing are Myolie and Linda. I actually like Myolie’s voice the most. Her singing voice sounds very different from her talking voice.
Tavia’s singing is okay, but I don’t really like her voice. She sounds too deep most of the time and it seems like she’s unable to hit high notes. Fala doesn’t sound good either. Kate just sounds bad. I didn’t really know what her singing voice sounded like until TUA aired.
I wrecked Kate is awesome and she a baby follows at of the producer instruction including when to blink that makes her a good artist if she performs badly its the producer at fail
I don’t mind about Former Miss HK. It’s her life & it’s her choice. She could do whatever she want.
