Zhang Ziyi Fell Asleep at Eason Chan’s Concert
Eason Chan’s (陳奕迅) Life Concert 2013 is currently in session at the Hong Kong Coliseum through July 18. The concert raises funds for charity. Although Zhang Ziyi (章子怡) was among the many celebrities to show their support, Ziyi fell asleep at one point during the concert. Eason called out to Ziyi to wake her up and joked about the incident.
Appearing in several avant garde costumes, Eason suddenly broke into Mandarin at one point in his concert. He said, “Why am I speaking Mandarin? Because there are many guests tonight. But I saw her dozing off.” Though he did not name the guest, he paused in the midst of singing Today <今日>, looked in the direction of Zhang Ziyi, pointed to his two eyes, and said, “Don’t think I cannot see her. Don’t sleep already!” To make amends, Ziyi gave a flying kiss to Eason who immediately caught it in his hand and then stuffed it into his pocket. Thereafter, Zhang Ziyi got on her feet, sang and danced to the tunes of Eason’s songs till the end of the concert.
No Offence Taken
Following the concert, Zhang Ziyi who was on the same judging panel as Eason in China’s The X-Factor <中國最強音>, went backstage to chat with him. Eason was touched that the busy actress made time out of her busy filming schedule in the United States to attend his concert. Despite her fatigue, Ziyi thoroughly enjoyed Eason’s concert.
While backstage, Ziyi posed in many photos with Eason, his wife Hilary Tsui (徐濠縈) and his mother.
Star-studded Performers
The concert started with a broadcast of a video clip where many celebrities came together to voice their support of charity. Renown pianist Lang Lang (郎朗), violinist Wen Wei (文薇), classical guitarist Yang Xue Fei (楊雪霏) and award-winning Latin dancers Troels Bager and Ina Jeliazkova were some of the performers. During the rehearsal, Eason was awed and impressed by the performers.
Eason’s music appealed to a wide range of fans. Justice of Peace, businessman Timothy Fok (霍震霆), heiress Laurinda Ho (何超蓮) as well as socialite Cathy Tsui’s (徐子淇) parents also attended the concert.
As the fans’ excitement grew and their shrill cries filled the Coliseum, Eason said, “Hong Kong people never changed. For the ten years that I have been holding concerts, there are always people screaming. Even if you don’t respect me, you must also respect my attire, it is so noble and elegant.”

A bit? More like a lot! Unfortunately the industry is in such dismal state that no one can challenge him.
Not just a bit, completely overrated! He’s a decent singer, but nothing compared to the likes of Jacky, Leslie, Eric, etc. Of course, the HK music scene sucks so bad right now (esp for male singers) that there’s no competition.
and you can tell how all his smoking ruins his voice.
Agree with everything said here but I give him some credits for making an effort to dress up and look like monkey.
Definitely overrated……..aside from having an OK voice that can hit some good tunes, the guy is a loser…….he thinks of himself in the same league as the 4 heavenly kings……..Such a big loser.
Such a great singer .. I enjoyed his concert a lot when I went.

At least eason does not act like diva as he always cheerful happy like jacky cheung style….always so successful

i am not a fan of him, but i like his voice, his songs are great and nice to listen to
Good singer but he needs to act his age! His antics were cute when he was in his 20s but not in the 30s!

I ilke listening to some of his songs too, even though personality-wise he doesn’t seem that likable (if the gossips/news we read is at least 50% accurate).
Whatever it is, doesn’t really concern me cos I listen with my ears and just don’t look at the face of the singer if they look too annoying 🙂
Its okay. Don’t blame Ziyi. I too will fall asleep, and not just for a moment, I will sleep right thru the whole concert. LOL
