13 Mr. Hong Kong Contestants Meet Up with TVB Producers
On July 11, 13 Mr. Hong Kong contestants were seen at the LOHAS Park Station, en route for an internal meeting with TVB producers. The 2016 Mr. Hong Kong contest will be held in conjunction with the Miss Hong Kong Pageant this August.
Seven of the 17 contestants who seemingly have passed the first two interviews were missing, leading to speculation that TVB may have already fouled them. Among the missing seven included Wu Pui (胡㻗), Joey Law’s (羅天宇) younger brother; internet sensation Kento To (杜沚諾); Ken Law, friend of fellow contestant Tony Wong (王瑋彤); and veterinarian Barry Yeung. Joey Law confirmed in a later report that his brother was indeed fouled.
The seven were instead replaced by three new faces, who made their first public appearance at the internal meeting. One of the new faces included 23-year-old Kent Kan (簡少傑), who the media dubbed as “young Leon Lai.” Kent arrived at the station with his uncle. He shared that he is currently a student at an university in Toronto, and has half a year left until his graduation. He came to Hong Kong specifically for the Mr. Hong Kong contest.
Asking Kent if he would be interested in debuting in the entertainment industry, he said, “I still half a year of school left. School comes first. I’ll think about it again when the time is appropriate.” Mentioning that many famous Hong Kong artists have come from Toronto, Kent was asked if he knew any of them personally. Kent appeared shy and said, “Some of them.” (Have people told you that you look like Leon Lai?) “No! No!”

hmmm I don’t see the Leon resemblance…. I guess they look alright.
I think those who have connections (brother, nephew whatever) have an edge. They look like average Joes to me.
