3 Months After Fall, Andy Lau Finally Stands Again
Andy Lau (劉德華) has updated his fans that he is standing and well again.
It’s been three months since the 55-year-old fell from his horse during a commercial shoot in Thailand. He was hospitalized for 51 days before his discharge on March 10. With a broken pelvis, torn muscles, and an injury to his lumbar spine, Andy was bed-ridden for weeks. Even opening his mouth to speak caused great pain. The actor himself said it would take him about 6 to 9 months to fully recover.
On March 10, Andy announced on his official website that he had been discharged from the hospital, and would be resting at home. Andy has stayed relatively quiet since then, but he did, however, announce that he had canceled his year-end concert due to his injury.
Andy has been closely working with a physical therapy since his discharge. According to a source, Andy would practice standing without a cane ten times a day, each time lasting ten minutes. He would also practice walking with support ten times a day.
On April 18, Andy updated his official website again, this time with a photo of him standing. In the picture, Andy wore some casual jeans a blue Nike t-shirt that said “Just do it”. He was also using a walking cane.
“It’s you in the front, and it’s you in the back! Just do it! Don’t change lanes!” he wrote.
