6 South Korean Actors With the Most Instagram Followers
Instagram brought a new dimension not only for fans from all over the world to interact with their idols, but also a measure for determining celebrity popularity based on the number of followers. With the mainstream success of Korean dramas, South Korean actors are seeing a surge in popularity.
6) Song Kang
The well-received South Korean drama, My Demon, boosted the popularity of actor Song Kang, 29, to new heights. With a massive increase of followers on Instagram, Song Kang has reached over 21 million followers, with close to 4 million new followers during the broadcast of My Demon.
5) Park Seo Joon
Park Seo Joon trails closely behind Song Kang, placing in fifth place with nearly 26 million followers. The 35-year-old actor is best known for his roles in Itaewon Class, What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim, and Fight the Way. He also has starring credits in the recent Hollywood marvel movie, The Marvels.
4) Lee Jong Suk
Coming in at fourth place is Lee Jong Suk, 34. Debuting as a runway model, Lee Jong Suk became the youngest male model to participate in Seoul Fashion Week. At third place is Ji Chang Wook, with 26.7 million followers. Beginning his career in musical theater, he rose to fame on the small screen playing the lead role in Smile Again. Adding to his resume, Ji Chang Wook received his breakthrough for his role in Empress Ki. In more recent years, the 36-year-old saw an increase in global popularity after starring in the Netflix series, The Sound of Magic.
2) Lee Min Ho
With 34.8 million followers, in second place is Lee Min Ho, 36, who gained widespread fame after starring in Boys Over Flowers. His popularity continued to soar with each subsequent filming project, many of which topped charts and was well-received by global audiences. Some of his notable works include City Hunter, The Heirs, The Legend of the Blue Sea, Bounty Hunters, and the novel-turned-television-series Pachinko. His international success is evident, as Lee Min Ho was selected to be the face of Hugo Boss alongside Patrick Mahomes, Naomi Campbell, Matteo Berrettini, and Suki Waterhouse.

Finally, in first place with 42.5 million followers, is Cha Eun Woo, 26. Despite being the youngest on the list, Cha Eun Woo found mainstream popularity through amassing a loyal legion of fans through his affiliation with South Korean boy band, Astro, as well as his solo activities involving hosting, music, and acting. After starring in his first lead role in the romantic comedy series, Gangnam Beauty, Cha Eun Woo continued to receive acting opportunities, many of which were well-received.
