Aaron Kwok Doesn’t Fear Flying Despite Tragic Fate of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17

Aaron Kwok (郭富城) was surrounded by fans at the Hong Kong International Airport yesterday when he returned from a round of promotional events in England, where he met with the British royal family. One of the first things he wanted to do after getting off his flight was to buy coffee, but because of the large crowd of fans, Aaron did not get the chance to do so.

On the day of his departure to England, Aaron heard that Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17  was shot down in Ukraine. He revealed that the airlines he uses to travel to England would use the same route that MH17 took. Aaron was worried and unhappy about the crash, expressing that the lives of many innocent civilians cannot be guaranteed anymore.

Though the news was quite frightening to hear, especially on the day of Aaron’s own flight, Aaron said the crash has not left a shadow in flying. “I’m not too afraid, but now when I’m on a plane I would make sure to check the route map.”

Aaron said he hopes Malaysia Airlines and the Malaysian government will investigate this incident with haste because the public deserves greater transparency. However, he also feels helpless about the issue. “It’s not us to worry about it.  It’s hard to avoid these things.”
