Ada Choi and Max Zhang Welcome Second Daughter
On Tuesday, Ada Choi (蔡少芬) and Max Zhang (張晉) announced the birth of their second daughter.
The proud second-time father shared the exciting news on his Weibo, “Good news: there is a new addition to the Zhang family. My wife, Ada Choi, delivered our healthy and beautiful daughter on March 25. It is tough for women to carry a baby to term. Life is so miraculous. Thank you God!” Max also shared a family photo with fans. The four members of the Zhang family looked blissful as Max gently held his baby daughter, with Ada smiling brightly and hugging their eldest girl, Zoe (張楚兒).
The baby’s name and weight have yet to be revealed, but the photo shows a healthy little girl who closely resembles her elder sister Zoe. Basking in joy, Ada responded to Max’s Weibo announcement, adding cute princess icons to represent herself and her two daughters. “Congratulations Mr. Zhang! Three beauties in your household! You’re the most blessed!”
Their daughter’s birth is a happy ending for Max and Ada who experienced a miscarriage scare last year. While giving a testimony in church in December, Ada shared that she had sudden, excessive bleeding on board a flight and was rushed to the emergency room. She was later diagnosed to have suffered from placental rift and recovered after resting at home for two weeks. Ada also frequently complained about back pain and insomnia on Weibo throughout her last trimester. Despite the hardships, Ada had a smooth delivery; both mother and daughter are healthy and resting.
One of the first stars to meet Max and Ada’s new bundle of joy was Max’s good friend, actress Zhang Ziyi (章子怡). Max and Ziyi already shared a close friendship prior to co-starring in Wong Kar Wai’s (王家衛) The Grandmaster <一代宗師>. The two met in 2000 when Max stood in as Ziyi’s stunt double in Ang Lee’s (李安) hit film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon <臥虎藏龍> and have kept in touch ever since. Ziyi visited the happy couple at the hospital soon after delivery and snapped a photo while holding the newborn girl. On her Weibo, Ziyi expressed her joy from seeing her good friends’ expanding family. She also channeled her character Gong Er from The Grandmaster and warned on-screen rival Max that he will face her wrath if he ever mistreats Ada.

Congrats to the proud parents! 🙂 Ada really is a natural beauty, she looks so good with no make-up on just after having given birth. Her husband Max looks like a dependable and caring husband, I like how he says that 2 children is enough because it’s really dangerous for a woman to give birth. Other MCP type husbands would not be satisfied until their wife gives them a son, but Max puts Ada’s well being first. Good choice for a husband, Ada!
