Ada Choi Nearly Lost Her Daughter Twice
Spinning off from the popular Empresses in the Palace (後宮甄嬛傳) costume drama, variety show Travel with the Royal Family <煥新環遊傳> reunited Ada Choi (蔡少芬), Tao Xinran (陶昕然), Xi Lan (斓曦), Lan Yingying (蓝盈莹), and other cast members from the drama. Reuniting after 13 years, the cast members traveled together to tour filming locations of Empresses in the Palace.
In the latest episode, Ada shared she lost sight of her eldest daughter, Zoe Zhang (張楚兒), twice when she was only two years old. Recalling the frightening experience, Ada said, “I took her to Macau for vacation. I was holding my younger daughter at the time. My parents, in-laws, and husband were all there, so I figured someone would be watching Zoe. We got in a taxi, and my aunt asked me, ‘Where’s your older daughter?’ I thought she was sitting in the taxi with her grandparents! My aunt then went over to look, but Zoe wasn’t there. She wasn’t in our car either. When we turned and looked around, Zoe was standing there talking to an older man saying that her mother was over there. She was only two years old at the time. It was really scary!”
Recalling a second time when she lost sight of Zoe, Ada shared, “One time, we were at Disneyland. We were taking a picture, so I was holding my younger daughter’s hand. After taking the picture we went over to the It’s a Small World ride. When we stood in line and looked around, we didn’t see Zoe. My husband said to me, ‘Weren’t you keeping an eye on her?’ I told him that I went to park the stroller, so how would I be watching her? We both ran out of the line to look and found Zoe standing at the same spot waiting.”
After sharing the two incidents, many netizens chided Ada for being careless. Others came to her defense and remarked that being a mother was no easy feat. Having multiple children split her attention, Zoe defaulted to depending on others to help out. Regardless, the incidents must have been extremely nerve-wracking for Ada!

Other adults and her husband were there both times, and she was holding onto the youngest. Why is she getting criticized for being careless? I don’t think it’s irrational for a mom to think with multiple other adults around that one of them would be watching her. It shouldn’t be her sole burden to bear.
