Ady An and Nathan Lee Unveil Truth about Breakup
Earlier this year, it was rumored that Taiwanese actress Ady An (安以軒) and Korean-American singer/actor Nathan Lee (李承炫) had broken off their secret relationship after Ady found out that Nathan was cheating on her with mainland Chinese actress Stephy Qi (戚薇). Although the rumor was never confirmed, many netizens accused Nathan of being unfaithful and of exploiting his relationship with Ady to further his career. On July 15, Nathan posted a long explanation on his Tencent Weibo, claiming that their breakup was due to differences in personalities and did not concern anyone else.
Because Nathan’s Chinese skills are limited, he had no choice but to write the Weibo post in English. In the post, he revealed that he and Ady, whom he referred to as “Ms. An,” had dated for two years, but had agreed to an amicable breakup on November 14, 2012.
“Throughout the two years, I realized that we had too many differences in personality, life style, and perspective toward other matters,” Nathan wrote. “And it is because of these reasons, the relationship was not working out. The breakup was of mutual agreement. Not because as was reported in the news saying, “I was CHEATING!” Our breakup had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with any other person.”
Nathan shared that he and Ady had kept their relationship secret in order to protect their privacy. They had planned to go public when his career was more stable. However, after they broke up, the constant gossip and accusations of cheating, which Nathan said were “blown out of proportion,” caused him to lose his patience.
“Does there always have to be a ‘third person’ to make the story more interesting?” he fumed. “I can SWEAR to GOD that from the day Ms. An and I were together, I have NEVER told any ‘media, press, reporters’ regarding the details of our relationship, as well as our breakup. Today is the FIRST and hopefully, will be the LAST time I discuss this issue!”
Despite his frustration, Nathan made sure to thank Ady for her help, as well as “the time and experience [they] had.” He also apologized to her for his stubbornness and wished her luck with her career and pursuit of happiness.
In response to Nathan’s post, Ady wrote on her own Weibo: “After waking up, you can’t go back to yesterday again. After investing in the past, there are no regrets in the present. I’m grateful for pain that lets me grow. You still have to walk forward, tranquil and calm. I will no longer be in your future, but I wish you well.”

didn’t even know they dated
Don’t worry, I’d imagine most people could care less
But seriously, the fact that this guy can barely converse in Mandarin and is considered a rising star in mainland dramas… WOW. Ady An must have serious connections.
He doesn’t look like a nice person.
Looks can be deceiving…
Really?
Have no clue at all on who the guy was but i think ive seen the girl in a taiwanese drama. for some reason, she hardly gets any rumors w/costars but the i think the most i remember her was being the matchmaker for BARBIE HSU the meteor garden girl…she introduced the dude to her n barely a month they are married or something…
I don’t think Ady meant to play match maker for Barbie Hsu because do you remember how mad Ady was when she heard that Barbie got engaged to Xiao Fei only after 20 days?? I heard that she liked Xiao Fei, but he fell in love with Barbie. Ady blasted her and was mad at her. I heard rumours of her and Dylan but she said that they are only friends.
I thought the supposedly “blasting” was make up by the papparazi?
The fact that Ady was not invited to the wedding does add some “juice” to the gossips that Ady likes Xiao Fei though
=HTS,
yes, I thought so too… i mean come on if she knows the guy for years n suddenly up married a woman he just met that’s gotta be WTH did i do? ahhah LOL…
But that lighting fast marriage seems to be still going huh? I mean barely 2 months and already married I thought that only happens to dramas? ahaah LOL..
HeTieShou – I noticed you always go by what the media say.
Joanna – good point, the papparazi is best for twisting things around.
azndoraemon,
NO, I don’t always go by what they say. But seriously, who does not to some extent since we do not know any of these celebs personally. The media says this and that, and you can choose to believe what you want to believe or not. However, of course a part of what we think is partially influenced by them. BUT, the point it is only take it with a grain of salt and leave it open to interpretation and NOT treat what they say as a fact. In some cases, as Joanna mentioned, they can do something that makes things more believable.
@Windy,
Yea, I know what you mean… Love and marriage is truly unpredictable. You can date on and on for years which is what Barbie did with Blue and Vic and then end in break up. But then she met Xiao Fei for barely 1-2 months and they are engaged and then just married out of the blue. You really wonder and I always thought that only happened in dramas too. But hey, it also happens in real life as well as we have seen.
I guess you don’t watch Taiwanese and mainland dramas if you don’t know Ady An. She is in a lot of Taiwanese and China series.
Poor Ady! I watched on Autumn Concerto with her and Vanness Wu in it, and I think it is one of the better Taiwanese drama. Kudos to the director and screenwriter Chen Hui Ling.
I only knew Ady from Autumn Concerto (and didn’t really like her wishy-washy character in that series that much cos I much prefer the other lead actress).
Anyway, I remember reading somewhere that her father is quite strict. Hope she’ll find her own happiness soon.
I also heard that her dad is very strict so that can be a part of the reason why she has not found the right guy yet. I have seen Ady in many series such as Chinese Paladin 1(which was the first time I saw her),HSDS2009, The Outsiders, White Romance, Autumn Concerto, and some others and really enjoy her acting. I also hope she will find her happiness one day. Hey, it can be someone that is not from the circle and is non Asian…Who knows?
I think I recognize him, he was on that Dancing show paired up with Nancy Wu a while back. I remember a lot of fans loving them together, I’ve seen clips of them and he seems like a really outgoing and likeable dude.
The media can be harsh on a relationship that has not set roots yet. I am sorry they brokeup.
Well, at least now Ady is open for rumours with other costars like Feng Shao Feng (crosses fingers!!!!)
Feng Shao Feng already publicy announced his relationship with an actress in weibo
=( Oh Well, Ady is bound to find someone for her! Best Wishes!!!
There are plenty of other great guys around so of course Ady will find her guy soon. Too bad she only considers Dylan as a friend, otherwise I think they would make a good couple in real life.
i miss the days when nathan lee was partnered with nancy wu for dancing in tvb. He’s hilarious xD
Ahh! Havent heard from Nathan Lee for a while. He’s super funny and adorable. Im surprised he managed to date someone as high up as Ady An. Although I’m not a huge fan of her work, I do think she’s absolutely gorgeous. Had they stayed together I wouldve had no issues with it.
