Andy Hui Makes Surprise Appearance at Sammi Cheng’s Concert

On the opening night of her recent “You & Mi Sammi World Tour” on July 12, Cantopop singer Sammi Cheng (鄭秀文) surprised fans with the appearance of husband Andy Hui (許志安) as her concert guest performer.

Delivers Hit Movie Theme Songs

Attended by many of her showbiz friends the likes of William So (蘇永康), Cherie Chung (鍾楚紅) and Poon Ka Tak (潘嘉德), Sammi delivered her most classic movie theme songs, and got teary-eyed when a part from her performance in the film Lost Love <流水落花> for which she won Best Actress at the Hong Kong Film Awards (HKFA), was aired on the big screen.

Describing herself as a “bride preparing for every detail of her awaited wedding”, she was grateful to fans for not refunding their concert tickets, sharing how she did not make as quick a recovery as she had thought she would after falling ill from COVID-19 last year, instead taking a seven-month hiatus to properly recuperate. She also recounted how she fell ill after taking on 2005 movie Everlasting Regret <長恨歌>, which later became a turning point in her life.

Thanking fans for their constant support on her showbiz journey, she said, “I know that when I won (my) award, many people were happy and some were so touched they even cried…after so many years on the job, till this very moment, you’re still so crazily supportive when I’m here singing and dancing, I’m really thankful,”

As she performed Fireworks at the end of the century (世紀末煙花) to accompanying piano music, Andy was revealed dressed in a black suit standing at the center of the stage when the lights came on, to the surprised cheers and excitement of the audience. It is known that Andy will be appearing nightly at Sammi’s concert as guest performer.
