Andy Lau Talks 55th Birthday with Daughter, Buys His Own Gifts

Yesterday, Andy Lau (劉德華) made an appearance at an event for the Hong Kong Paralympic Committee and Sports Association for the Physically Disabled. The actor-singer, who turns 55 on September 27, shared that he will be celebrating his birthday at home with his family.

Due to his busy schedule, Andy will have no time to bake a cake for himself. He also shared that his family’s domestic worker will be retiring, as she needs to return home to prepare for a family marriage.

Andy said, “My daughter will miss her a lot. She’s been helping our family for over ten years, and she helped raised [Hanna].”

Asking if four-year-old Hanna has prepared a birthday gift for him, Andy laughed and said, “What does she have to give me? If anything, I am the one who is buying the gift.” (Maybe she’ll draw you a birthday card?) “It’s still going to be me holding her hand to help her draw the card.”

In regards to his planned concert tour, Andy shared, “I’m guessing that it’ll be around the New Year’s. I kindly ask those who want to hold their concert around the same time to step aside.” (How many shows?) “Maybe about 20… I think there’s going to be some pressure if I don’t do that amount.”

  1. Always hard for the kids if the helper was the one who always take care of her. Hopefully they will be able to find another nice helper for Hanna. And with her being 4, kisses and hugs are good enough as a gifts!

  2. happybi…agree with you. he doesn’t need any cards…the best birthday gift would be kiss and hug. that’s something money cannot buy.
