Angus Yeung Used to Weigh 190 Pounds

Emperor Entertainment Group (EEG) is priming 25-year-old actor Angus Yeung (楊天宇) to greater stardom, pairing him up with top artistes such as Donnie Yen (甄子丹), Nicholas Tse (謝霆鋒), Kara Wai (惠英紅), Charlene Choi (蔡卓妍), and Raymond Lam (林峯) in the company’s film and drama productions. Merely two years into his contract, Angus impressed EEG so much that the company offered to extend his contract before its expiration date. 

Appearing in the drama PTU <PTU機動部隊> alongside Charlene Choi and Raymond Lam, Angus caught the attention of many viewers for his 40-inch chest and 6-feet tall stature. He has appeared in the films Mad Detective <神探大戰>, Echoes of the Thunder <速戰>, and Raging Fire <怒火>. After appearing on Chinese variety show I Actor <演員的品格>, Angus co-hosted the talk show, 3 Fools <三夫當關>, with Carlos Chan (陳家樂) and Kenny Kwan (關智斌).

Recalling his filming experience in Raging Fire, Angus said, “I’m a big fan of Nicholas Tse; he is so cool. I didn’t have a lot of scenes with him, but when I did, I’m in awe of his presence. He has so much experience in action films. He is fast and can get into character quickly. Donnie is a great martial artist. Everything he does is so perfect. I didn’t ask a lot of questions, but I love learning from them by watching them.”

Lost 40 Pounds to Join Entertainment Industry

While Angus’ career has been smooth sailing, he put in a lot of hard efforts prior to joining the entertainment industry. He recalled his times as an economics student at Washington University, ” I was overweight when I was studying in the United States, and weighed almost 190 pounds. In order to get signed by a talent agency, I vowed to lose weight. Training two months without a trainer, I watched online videos and worked out. I only ate foods low in carbs, sugar, salt, and oil. Every morning when I woke up, I would go to the gym.”

Currently weighing around 150 pounds, Angus continues to work out to stay in shape, but he doesn’t need to control his diet anymore. “I can eat fatty foods and desserts now. Unless I have to take my shirt off for the cameras, then I need to diet!”

Grateful towards EEG in giving him so many opportunities, Angus believes that hard work and perseverance will help further his career.
