Hong Kong Celebrities Run in Marathon
Hong Kong celebrities came out in full force in support of Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon yesterday, dressed in sporting gear and all warmed up ready to take the 10 kilometer challenge. Annie Liu (劉心悠) ran her seventh marathon. Among the celebrities who participated, Kathy Yuen (湯怡) from Emperor Entertainment Group (EEG) was the fittest, beating all her colleagues to be the first female celebrity to hit the finishing line. Many TVB artists also showed their support for the marathon.
Annie Liu Prepared To Beat Own Record
Even though the frail-looking Kathy surprised many when she reached the finishing line after 57 minutes, it was Bu Bu Jing Xin <步步惊心> star, Annie Liu who stole the show. Going to the marathon with an edge to beat her previous record, Annie has prepared herself 2 days prior. To adjust her body clock, she has been sleeping early and waking up at 9 PM so that she could be in her best form in the wee morning. Arriving at 4 AM, she was already alert and warmed up. She said, “This is my seventh time taking part in the 10 kilometer run. Last year, my result was more than 1 hour 10 minutes. I hope I can finish this year’s race within 1 hour.” Though she did not meet her target of 1 hour, Annie set a new personal record at 1 hour 5 minutes.
Other EEG artists who also participated in the race were Sherman Chung (鍾舒漫), Kenny Kwan (關智斌) and Deep Ng (吳浩康). Hilary Tsui (徐濠縈), Stephanie Cheng (鄭融), model Celia K (郭穎兒) as well as members from girl band Hotcha – Winkie and Crystal were also seen at the run.
Celia K was dressed sexily in pink, baring her waist despite the cool winter morning. She said, “I saw many lovers holding hands and run together. Looking at them makes me feel envious. I hope I can have a boyfriend to run with me next time.”
Also present in the marathon was actress Jade Leung (梁琤), who took part in her her first 10 kilometer marathon. She finished the run in 1 hour 40 minutes, a time which she is satisfied with. She said, “This is my first time running and I’m feeling okay, thanks to the supporters cheering me on.”
May Chan Is Inspired
TVB artists such as Mandy Wong (黃智雯) and Selena Li (李詩韻) were also present at the event. Inbound Troubles’ <老表,你好嘢!> May Chan (陳嘉佳) also participated even though she did not finish the event. However, the tenacious May has her mind set to take part in next year’s 10 kilometer run. “Exercise is good. Furthermore, even if I can’t run, I can always walk. There are so many pit stops that supplie water and bananas so I think it won’t be very difficult for me to finish the race.” May adds that she may eventually eat up to 10 bananas to have enough energy to finish the run.
Cheerleaders
Kate Tsui (徐子珊) and Ruco Chan (陳展鵬) chose to give their moral support instead. Kate said resignedly, “It’s such a big event. I am so tempted to join in! But I’ve just finished a whole night of filming for Sniper Attack 2013 <神槍狙擊2013>. I would only embarrass myself if I cannot finish the race and need someone’s help to carry an oxygen tank to walk with me!”
Like Kate, Ruco who worked until 3 AM and was too tired to participate even though he claimed he is a newcomer in marathons.

Wish we saw more of Selena on TVB.
Agree. Either TVB is just not airing her dramas yet or her acting career has reached a stalemate. The last time she had a significant role was in Wish and Switch, which was a year ago.
Love to watch Selena! She had a guest role in the Confidant last year.
First of all 10k is NOT a marathon! The offical marathon distance is 42k and 195m.
Always got the impression that Annie was running the real thing bc the articles mentioned marathon so it’s kinda misleading.
Expected her to jog/run faster bc 10k in 1h 5min is almost like walking pace.
Medusa was wearing leather pants only missing her heelps, LOL
you must run really fast. 10k is about 6 miles. It would take me about an hour for 6 miles as well running at a decent jogging pace. but maybe your steps are much bigger.
Not really, 10k is still consider a marathon. There are 2k, 5k, 10k, and half marathons. Is just that the official record for marathon is 42k. I don’t know about you but the average time for 10k is around 45-60minute is good. If your an elite runner yeah is under 30 minutes but she ain’t professional. So she did really well for an actress
It’s interesting that all the celebrities mentioned were women.
I guess the HK male celebrities are just too old for this. LOL!!
I think its rather silly to show up in leather pants or jeans at a marathon. I’m sure there’s public washrooms around the marathon and they can very easily change into shorts/track pants. But of course the two artists were forced by TVB to show up at the event even though they have to work later that day.
A marathon is 42k. Check IAAF and the Standard Chartered websites to confirm the correct terminology. e.g. Marathon, half-marathon and 10k. 10k is a long distance race. More than 42k can be classified as ultra-marathons. 100m is a sprint, 1500 is middle distance and so on. Let’s not use the media to misinform…

haha. Annie liu looks great without makeup…not.
10k is not a true marathon. A marathon is equivalent to about 42 kilometers or 26.2 miles… Even so, I know many people would have a tough time completing that.
I totally agreed, 42km or 26.2 is a marathon! I should know I ran the London Marathon last year and it takes a lot of training!
wow, they have events like these too? good for ppl who like to exercise, get to do something different too, that’s cool, could see some actors enjoying themselves
Selena, we miss you. TVB is so unfair, always promoting the wrong celebs.
These poor stars have to lose their self-dignity to cajole and get close and personal with those management suckers to get good roles.
You don’t play the game, you don’t get up.
TVB is like a political party.
