ATV Accuses CTI’s Ricky Wong of Stealing Internal Documents

City Telecomm (CTI) has not even received their broadcasting license yet and its founder, Ricky Wong (王維基), is already facing a myriad of negative press. ATV’s Sheng Pinru (盛品儒) held a press conference yesterday on behalf of the ATV Board of Directors to claim that they suspect Ricky stole some important documents and funds prior to his departure as CEO from ATV.

Sheng stated that it was impossible for Ricky to compile the proper documentation and file for a broadcasting license within a year because he is unfamiliar with the dealings of the entertainment industry.

Sheng also pointed out that Ricky used his relationship with good friend, Andy Ho (何安達),  former Chief Executive’s Information Commissioner, to persuade members of the government into supporting the free public broadcast license at a cocktail party earlier in the month. Andy was quick to refute the claim to clarify that he only greeted guests at the party and did not participate in any coercion of any sort.

Sheng, not worried about legal implications, will investigate the matter on behalf of ATV because he is suspicious of illegal activity.

Following the claims from ATV, Ricky published an announcement to clear his name along with 5 other colleagues. Ricky states that he did not steal any documents from ATV and even questioned if ATV has anything worthy for people to want to copy. Ricky has already contacted his attorneys and will sue ATV for defamation while requesting for an apology. He also urges the Communications Authority and Gregory So (蘇錦樑) from the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development to address the issue and look into the matter in order to stop the false accusations from ATV.

      1. zero rating? ouch! What happend to them? they used to be so good back in the days.

      2. really? ohh wow, I remember that when i was younger, I used to enjoy many of ATV’d drama series. lol maybe it is my taste of series 😛

      3. I used to like watching that Vampire DAte something with Mang Yee Mun.. it was kinda popular last time.

      4. I think they had some great stuff back in the 90s (didn’t watch much of the earlier ones apart from Reincarnated). I think the ones I rewatched the most were Justice Bao, the one about the Yang Family and anything starring Kwong Wah.

      5. ATV’s highest rating is their News @ 6 pm and News @ 10:30pm shows. That’s it. Its just a garbage network.

  1. Will they just stop making a fool out of themselves? Its getting more absurd by the minute. Ricky said it best, is there anything even worthy to steal? What a comedy show, ATV showing its inferior ability and resorting to cheap underhanded tactics instead of matching up their competition by offering better programs and material. Guess they are sticking to what they do best, delivering utter crap. I’ve given up any hope on them, you know they have hit rock bottom when they can’t come up with anything better than what they saw on their competitor, TVB’s recycled drama plot’s “stealing internal docs.” The farce just never stops.

  2. Like what documents? “On how to fail as a production house”? or “The analysis on the zero ratings and how best to continue with the desired of negative ratings”?

    1. Yes bc it will provide a good foundation on how not to fail by just doing the opposite, haha.

ATV must be thinking with their butts accusing Ricky without any kind of proof and why now yrs after he stepped down as CEO.

ATV making any net profit at all? Perhaps it has become a money laundering company?

  3. ATV seems to have more troubles with CTI more than Txb. ATV even did a protest (and dance Gangnam style horse dance like wth???) to request the government to not issue CTI the license, and now accuse CTI of stealing their documents. I wonder if CTI still rents ATV’s studio to film or not because CTI dun have enough money to build their own studio.

    1. That’s cause even with TVB they have been getting enough low ratings now with CTI in the race they seemed to be finished.

      1. They are half finished.

Btw, I’m more curious that Ricky is still can rend the studio of ATV or not.

  4. Lobbying in legal way, way legal. Stealing documents? Unless it is script, no idea if business processes documents are worth that much.

Much like a show for CTI to accelerate to get its license.

  5. man, ATV was the bomb back in the 90’s…they got ton of great series…then they just disappear…

  6. lol.. i love that Ricky questioned on what ATV has that is worthy of copying. .. which is quite true.

  7. Everyone has failed to see what ATV is actually doing. LOL!!

They are planting negative seeds in the mind of the HK authority as they deliberate on whether to grant CTI the license to air.

The longer they can delay the process, Ricky Wong and Co. will have to burn up more of their own cash as they can’t make a dime of revenue while there are people to be paid.

    1. The HK authority is not that stupid nor will they buy into dumb tricks. Everyone has already seen this for what it is. ATV is the criminal here.

HK authority are not questioning ATV why they didn’t report it two years ago. That is because its clear as day that ATV has a motive to make up this BS to prevent another station from obtaining what was granted to themselves to begin with. If anything, ATV should lose its license immediately for foul play and not respecting the rights of the HK viewers to have access to more options and choose.

      1. correction: HK authority are probably questioning ATV on why they didn’t report it two years ago.

      2. No one including ATV themselves is expecting the Authority to buy what they said. The HK version of the FCC is not a judicial body so there will be no investigation of these allegations. Besides, that is not ATV’s purposes.

The real purposes is to present “obstacles” to delay the approval process by bringing up some of these allegations concerning Wong.

  8. Well, at least ATV is getting in the news for once. Haha, props to Ricky “Is there even anything worth stealing?”
