“Back to the Past” Postpones Theatrical Release to 2022
The movie stars Louis Koo, Jessica Hsuan, and Raymond Lam.
The movie followup to TVB classic drama A Step Into the Past <尋秦記> reunites the original cast, Louis Koo (古天樂), Raymond Lam (林峯), Sonija Kwok (郭羨妮), Jessica Hsuan (宣萱), Joyce Tang (滕麗名) and Michelle Saram (雪兒). Titled Back to the Past <尋秦記>, a one-minute trailer was released in March and gave hope that the movie would be released soon. However, it looks like the release date has now been pushed back to 2022.
Signed under Louis’ management agency, Jessica shares that certain scenes will be reshot thus delaying the film release to next year. Although the news may be disappointing, fans hope the reshoots will be completed soon, and improve the quality of the movie.
The story revolves around police officer Hong Siu Lung (Louis Koo) travelled back in time to the Warring States period of ancient China to witness the ascension of emperor Qin Shi Huang (Raymond Lam). However, Siu Lung arrived several years early and made it his mission to guide Qin Shi Huang to become the emperor.
In the movie sequel, Qin Shi Huang does not regret using brutal measures to take power and Hong Siu Long regrets his role in assisting his imperial ascension. To stop himself from further changing history, Hong Siu Long settles in the country-side with his family, but he is pulled back into conflict with his former friend.

The original was good but I hated Sonija’s and Michelle’s acting. They were new and quite limited in range at that time. At least now, with the benefit of time and experience, that should be better. Same with Raymond. Hope the storyline can be as good.
Since we are doing sequels on decade + series, can we do one on Twin of Brothers? Not so much the story, but the characters were fun. I just want to see Li Qian again. She is so cute.
