Bai Lu and Zhang Linghe Split After 2 Years
Soaring to popularity after her pairing with Leo Luo Yunxi (羅雲熙) in the hit drama Till the End of the Moon <長月燼明>, actress Bai Lu (白鹿) was romantically linked to her Story of Kunning Palace <寧安如夢> co-star Zhang Linghe (張凌赫), with on-off rumors of the two’s relationship these two years. However, Bai Lu’s work studio recently clarified that she was single – while the reason behind their breakup was revealed to be Zhang Linghe’s parents, shocking netizens!
Bai Lu’s Closeness with Family Led to Breakup Decision
Often spotted together on the set of Story of Kunning Palace, paparazzi also caught Bai Lu staying over at Zhang Linghe’s place. Bai Lu’s parents would even send their daughter to Zhang Linghe’s residence, leading everyone to think that the couple’s romance is one approved by their elders. However, recent talk emerged that Zhang Linghe’s parents were unsatisfied with Bai Lu’s family background and thought that they were socially incompatible.
Although Zhang Linghe has never spoken about her family background in detail, he graduated from Nanjing Normal University’s School of Electrical and Automated Engineering with a high score of 182 over 200 in mathematics. He would have become an engineer, but wanted a less mundane pathway and convinced his parents about entering showbiz. Coming from a well-to-do family, his father is in a managerial position in real estate, while his mother operates a franchise supermarket chain.
On the other hand, Bai Lu graduated from Jiangsu Union Technical Institute and has on many occasions said that she did not have high qualifications but had graduated after five years of varsity, putting her academic qualifications far behind Zhang Linghe’s “xueba” or top student status. As she dreamed of becoming a star since young, her mother had accompanied her to SM Entertainment’s trainee selections in Korea. Returning after she failed to make the cut, she made her debut through getting into Taobao modelling.
Although Bai Lu enjoys a higher showbiz status than Zhang Linghe, he had always been a favored child; his parents felt that he should be with a more outstanding partner, and were of the opinion that conflicts were bound to arise if the two parties were not intellectually compatible. While she comes from an ordinary family background, Bai Lu shared a close-knitted relationship with her parents, and eventually came to think that Zhang Linghe’s family looked down on her. Amid the unresolved conflict between the two, their mutual friends who came to know of the circumstances also chose not to interfere, culminating in their eventual breakup.

Smart men do not necessarily want a strong woman. Academically accomplished does not mean innate intelligence. If I came from a well to do background and my parents were loving, I would get really high marks in school too. 99% of kids would. Now, if you are taking genius level, that’s like 1% of the world. We are talking perfect SATs, IQ of 160, and EQ of 90. Once again, educated, intelligent, and genius are 3 VERY DIFFERENT things
