Benjamin Yuen Lacked Confidence to Pursue Niki Chow

It was almost an instant attraction between Benjamin Yuen (袁偉豪) and Bowie Cheung (張寶兒) when they met. Married happily for two years, Benjamin reflected on what initially drew him to Bowie.

Appearing as a guest on Bob Lam’s (林盛斌) talk show MIB: Men In Binlo <人夫放假約出去滾>, Benjamin shared that he connected with Bowie while filming a variety show in Africa. “Every morning, I would get a cup of coffee. She came over to me and said, ‘You look like a foreigner!’ I thought to myself ‘Wow, you really think highly of me.’ That’s how we started talking and getting a feel for each other. We talked about life, music, thoughts on marriage among other things. During one bus ride, I texted her, ‘What would it be like if you became the woman behind me?’ She didn’t reply, and it was the longest bus ride ever. It wasn’t until we returned to Hong Kong that we had a chance to really get to know each other.”

Was Afraid to Pursue Niki Chow

Aside from Bowie, Benjamin has been linked with Another Era <再創世紀> co-star, Niki Chow’s (周勵淇). While filming a subsequent variety show, they discussed how they had met many years ago in the subway while Niki was a model and Benjamin had not entered the industry yet.

When Niki asked why he did not pursue her then, Benjamin replied, “How could I dare with only 20 dollars in my pocket? If I just came at you with only a subway ticket and asked to be your friend, what would you have said?”

Niki thought about it, and replied that she may actually say yes! Benjamin added that he knew that he was not at her level, so he decided not to pursue her.
