Benjamin Yuen on Marrying a Richer Wife

After his breakout role in A Fist Within Four Walls <城寨英雄>, Benjamin Yuen (袁偉豪), has starred in many high-profile dramas. Since filming Forensic Heroes V <法證先鋒V> and ICAC Investigators 2022 <廉政行動2022>, he has significantly slowed down his work output. He and his wife Bowie Cheung (張寶兒) are expecting their first child with an expected due date in mid November.

Looks Forward to Being a Father

The couple filmed a video to share their feelings about becoming parents soon. Bowie experienced a comfortable pregnancy and said she became happier. However, Benjamin teased her on the side and said, “You always pass gas!” while Bowie returned, “The baby is always kicking me!”

Benjamin reflected on the changes that a baby will bring for the couple. “People say pregnant women are very emotional, but it turns out I became very emotional!” Wiping at his tears, Benjamin said, “I’m at this stage in life–what more can I ask for? I will no longer intentionally hide my happiness or sadness. I’ll just express them.” Benjamin added that he used to prioritize his career, but “now family is everything to me.”

Benjamin Improves EQ

Although known for his temperamental outbursts in the past, Benjamin seems to be in a much better head space. Last year in September, Benjamin and Bowie went live on social media to interact with fans. In the session, fans pointed out that Benjamin looked haggard while Bowie was praised for her glowing, youthful skin. This was not the first time that Benjamin was criticized for his looks. In the past, he would defend himself and was not afraid to confront rude fans. However, Benjamin did not respond to these comments this time, and his wife instead came to his defense and expressed aging was a normal part of life. She said Benjamin worked hard to maintain himself and praised him for looking younger than his true age.

In addition to not calling out rude fans during his recent live video, the 42-year-old is also able to laugh at himself. Benjamin lamented “No more ‘soft rice’ for me!” while rushing back to the station for work, taking a jab at the previous headlines about him marrying a richer woman and being a ‘Soft Rice King.’ Benjamin later admitted that he has resolved some of his inner struggles and feelings about the matter. Although he used to concentrate on what others said about him being a ‘Soft Rice King’ and felt angry, he has come to terms to it and relegated it to the past.
