BlackPink’s Next Single to Feature Selena Gomez
Korean media has reported that BlackPink’s upcoming new single, which is expected to be released next month, will feature American singer Selena Gomez.
BlackPink’s foray into the American music scene first started in 2018 when they were featured in Dua Lipa’s “Kiss and Make Up.” BlackPink then collaborated with Lady Gaga for her song “Sour Candy”, a track in Gaga’s May 2020 album Chromatica.
While promoting her album, Lady Gaga had nothing but praises to say for the four girls of BlackPink, calling herself the group’s “fifth member.”
In regards to the Selena Gomez feature, BlackPink’s management agency and record label YG Entertainment stated, “Please wait for the official announcement.”
BlackPink’s new single is expected to be released next month, followed by an album drop—their first full-length album—on October 2.
BlackPink came back last month with their latest single “How You Like That”. The music video hit over 100 million views at 32 hours after its release, becoming the fastest music video in YouTube history to hit 100 million views. It is also one of YouTube’s most-liked videos, at 13 million likes.
The K-pop quartet debuted under YG Entertainment in 2016. Their most recent comebacks—“Kill This Love” and “How You Like That” broke several YouTube records. Jennie made her solo debut in November 2018, and as of 2020 her music video “SOLO” is the highest-viewed music video for a solo Korean music artiste, at 500 million views.
