Cecilia Cheung Was Afraid of Making Friends
The actress said “Sisters Who Make Waves 2’” changed her for the better.
After three months of intense competition, Cecilia Cheung (張栢芝) did not get placed in the seven-member singing group of Sisters Who Make Waves 2 <乘風破浪的姐姐2>. Despite this, Cecilia’s popularity soared at new levels after the music survival show’s broadcast, and she benefitted from the time spent together with other contestants and built meaningful friendships.
Cecilia Used to Resist Friendships for Fear of Getting Hurt
During the show, Cecilia’s question for herself was, “How much do the sisters actually like or dislike me?” Opening up about her experience, the 40-year-old shared that she had avoided making friends due to fears of getting hurt.
“Before coming [on the show], I was someone who did not know how to make friends. I like sticking to my family as I feel that family is for life, whereas I had a phobia of getting hurt by friends, so I did not dare to continue friendships,” said the single mother, who is fiercely protective of her three sons.
Participating in the second season of Sisters Who Make Waves 2 changed Cecilia’s mindset. She is now more courageous when it comes to making friends, and has also gained several new friendships on the show.
Hearing about her rewarding growth, netizens expressed happiness for Cecilia, who has not only managed to improve her singing and dancing skills but has become noticeably more relaxed and happier.
