Charmaine Sheh Battles Nicholas Tse for “Chef Nic”
In a recent episode of the cooking show Chef Nic <鋒味>, now airing its second season in Hong Kong, Nicholas Tse (謝霆鋒) and guest star Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼) traveled to Istanbul, Turkey to experience the city’s culture and delicacies. The two enjoyed some Turkish coffee and, like what all friends, they had their fortunes read from the leftover coffee grounds in the cup.
Nicholas’ fortune read that he has the life of a wang zi (Mandarin for “prince”), and has a life blessed with the affections of many women. Charmaine immediately agreed, saying that she can even make out the silhouette of a woman in his coffee grounds. She joked, “That is the image of the prince’s wife, wang fei!” Wang fei means “princess consort” in Mandarin, and is also a homonym of Faye Wong (王菲).
For the episode, Charmaine and Nicholas competed against each other in the kitchen, with Star Chef <星廚駕到> winner Charmaine vowing that she would beat Nicholas. As a warm-up, the duo challenged themselves to seafood dish. Nicholas made a tuna dish which could be eaten in five different ways, while Charmaine made a “Turkish inspired” perch dish. They also enlisted the help of a local Chinese citizen to taste their finished products.
On competing against Nicholas, Charmaine said, “Having the cooking skills is important, but having great luck is more important!”
Chef Nic airs on ViuTV in Hong Kong.

The whole season is already out on YouTube. Started around December and finished awhile ago, I dunno why it’s being promoted now…
She’s so witty with that comeback!
