Charmaine Sheh Discusses “Modern Dynasty 2” Filming Experience

With Modern Dynasty 2: Heir to the Throne <家族榮耀之繼承者> currently airing, the cast has been busily promoting the drama. Featuring a cast with Hong Kong’s top actors, Modern Dynasty 2’s storyline centers around the power struggles among a rich family.

Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼)  saw a huge boost in popularity in Hong Kong and China after The Queen of News <新聞女王>, but she does not feel pressure as the two dramas are different and everyone has equal screen time. “Modern Dynasty 2 revolves around fighting over inheritance and my character is very different from Man Jeh. This time I’m much gentler, so I’m basically acting as myself!”

In a trailer clip where there was a scene where Candice Yu (余安安) slapped her, Charmaine remembered her face became swollen afterward with a handprint mark. Even though the scene was completed in one take, Charmaine temporarily lost hearing for a short period of time. Despite this, she preferred to be slapped rather than face the pressure of hitting someone else.

This was the first time Raymond Lam (林峯)  and Charmaine worked together after nine years. In the drama, he and Raymond Wong (黃浩然) will fight for Charmaine’s affections.  Raymond Lam did not disclose whether they will have intimate scenes, only sharing that he hopes they will be able to continue their story in a third season.

When it was pointed out Him Law (羅子溢) has intimate scenes with Inez Leong (梁諾妍), Raymond Lam joked Him had more action than he did in the past 10 dramas.
