Charmaine Sheh, Moses Chan Film Jonathan Chik’s New Web Drama
Producer Jonathan Chik‘s (戚其義) drama When Heaven Burns <天與地> left a deep impression with viewers when it was aired in 2011. Working at TVB for two decades, Jonathan created many classics such as War and Beauty <金枝慾孽>, before leaving the station in 2013 to work in Mainland China.
Jonathan often cast Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼), Moses Chan (陳豪), and Kenny Wong (黃德斌) in his past series. In March, Jonathan will be filming a new web drama to reunite the three stars from When Heaven Burns. His longtime collaborator, former TVB scriptwriter Chow Yuk Ming (周旭明), is also involved in the new project.
Charmaine confirmed that she will be starring as a lawyer in Jonathan’s new project. Charmaine said, “The series also stars Moses Chan and Kenny Wong. I’ve waited for [Jonathan] for six years. But this time, we were not involved in the discussion of the script.” As for her lawyer role, Charmaine said, “The dialogue is very long; there is a lot of technical information in the lines.”
A Bumpy Road for Jonathan After Leaving TVB
Fans were delighted to see a semi-reunion of the When Heaven Burns cast and crew. After Jonathan left TVB, he directed Mainland drama The Legendary Tycoon <傳奇大亨>, but he reportedly did not get along with lead actor Hans Zhang (張翰). Jonathan was dropped from the project and replaced by Taiwanese director, Zhuang Xun Xin (莊訓鑫).
Afterward, Jonathan worked on the production planning for 780-episode series, The Fatal Truth <荔芳街之海岸風雷>, in the last two years. Last year, Jonathan invited Kenny Wong and Maggie Cheung (張可頤) to film the series.

I look forward to watching Jonathan Chik’s new drama series. Most of his productions were good, except “4 In Love”. His drama series always had some depth in the storyline and good casts, such as “War & Beauty”, “Dance of Passion”, “When Heaven Burns”, “Healing Hands I, II and III”, “Cold Blood Warm Heart”, “At the Threshold of an Era I & II”, “Secret of the Heart”, “The Criminal Investigator I and II”.
The thought of seeing Kenny Wong’s emotional-less acting makes me shiver.
@anon True dat. I wonder why Jonathan Chik casts Kenny so often. These three are like the staple in his more recent series.
780-episode series? That’s really really long.
