Chen Yuqi, Zhao Lusi In Talks To Star In “Love When the Stars Fall”

Producer Liu Ning (刘宁) has kickstarted the production of fantasy drama series Love When the Stars Fall <星落凝成糖>, the final part of his Honey Trilogy which began with Ashes of Love <香蜜沉沉烬如霜> in 2018.

Love When the Stars Fall is a marriage of convenience story that follows two princesses of the mortal realm who are betrothed to different factions—the gentle and kind older sister was betrothed to the prince of the Immortal Tribe, while smart and cunning younger sister is betrothed to the prince of the Devil Tribe. But the two sisters are switched on their wedding day, and they find that their lives aren’t as convenient and perfect as they would hope.

Liu Ning will continue to produce the fantasy trilogy, with Chu Yui Bun (朱銳斌) as its director.

While the lead cast has not yet been confirmed, there is Internet talk that the production studio is interested in casting Heavenly Sword and Dragon Slaying Sabre <倚天屠龙记> star Chen Yuqi (陈钰琪) and The Romance of Tiger and Rose <传闻中的陈芊芊> actress Zhao Lusi (赵露思) as the two main leads. Chen also starred in Ashes of Love as the supporting character, Liu Ying.

Liu Ning’s series of fantasy, xianxia romances started in 2018 with Ashes of Love, which starred  Yang Zi (杨紫) and Deng Lun (邓伦). Propelling the genre and its actors to further fame across the nation, Liu Ning returned with a “part two” called Skate Into Love <冰糖炖雪梨> released in 2020. While unrelated to Ashes of Love, as Skate Into Love is a modern romance, the title pays homage to Chinese title of Ashes of Love, which includes the word “honey.”
