Cherie Chung Rediscovers Love After Husband’s Death
In the years following her husband’s death, retired Hong Kong film actress Cherie Chung (鍾楚紅) did not attempt to rediscover love. But in recent months, it seems that Cherie is finally ready for romance in her life again.
In 1991, Cherie married advertising executive, Mike Chu (朱家鼎), and retired from acting. Mike passed away in August 2007 after battling colon cancer for many years. Since his death, Cherie has become an environmentalist and philanthropist. She has been advocating for environmental protection and also developed an interest in photography, selling her works to charity.
Last year, Cherie was seen on dates with two men, in which one was entrepreneur Donald Yau (丘家輝). According to rumors, the two met through a mutual friend and often met up in their private time. Donald had also helped Cheri set up her own photography exhibition, entitled To Hong Kong with Love, which was held this week. She shared that her love for photography stemmed from the urge “to capture fleetingly beautiful images, which may be gone in a moment”.
Though the 54-year-old has not announced about starting a new relationship, Cherie’s relationship with Donald is definitely close. Recently, Cherie was spotted having afternoon tea with Donald and their mutual friend Sammi Cheng (鄭秀文) at a shopping mall. It looked like the trio had a great time together. They laughed loudly and could not stop talking. Cherie’s eyes never left Donald’s, and it was said that she tried to flirt with him.
After finishing their meal, Sammi was the first leave, while Cherie and Donald left together.

I like how she found other hobbies after her husband passed away. I don’t know if what they are claiming is true but it doesn’t matter. The last time I saw her on screen was at Leslie Cheung’s concert where she gave a little speech about Leslie. She was radiant then and likely radiant now 🙂

I adore her ! I can see happiness and she is enjoying her life because she can let go and not like other artists , nice to see outside but deep inside no true happiness at all.
I hope this isn’t true and her husband didnt really die of cancer because it makes no sense that she could move on.

She’s like 50’ish right? Still keeping herself well. If she would do exercise it would have given better results, but not bad at all. Her movie An Autumn’s Tale still sticks in my head.
