Chilam Cheung Reveals Anti-Aging Secrets

Chilam Cheung (張智霖) is quickly gaining popularity due to his portrayal of airline pilot Jayden “Captain Cool” in TVB’s Triumph in the Skies 2 <衝上雲霄II >. The 41-year-old not only received praise for his acting skills, but also became known for his eternally youthful appearance. Revealing his anti-aging secrets, Chilam also provided a glimpse into his blissful family life.
A Youthful Family
Since his debut in 1990, Chilam has steadily evolved from a baby-faced singer to a popular television and film actor. His handsome, boyish face once captured many young girls’ hearts, and Chilam continues to do so more than 20 years later.
Some have accused Chilam for having a “plastic face”, but he calmly shrugged it off, saying that his quality genes and healthy lifestyle contributed greatly to his youthful look. “I have actually inherited my looks from my family. Everyone in my family looks very young. My father is over 70 years old but still looks like someone in his 50s. You really can’t tell his real age.”
Chilam revealed that he does not have a facial routine, but relies on exercise to maintain his healthy skin. “I don’t normally perform any facial care. I don’t even use facial masks. However, I do exercise for 2 hours every day because I love to eat. When I was in Singapore earlier I was photographed with a bit of a tummy. Now I am working hard to lose the fat!”
Favorite Exercises
Aside from sports and cardio exercises, Chilam is also a fan of hot yoga. “I exercise a lot. I would play soccer, swim, or go for a run, for at least two hours every day. I also spent some time doing hot yoga. I am getting old and my body is not so flexible. I have not yet been able to lift my feet over my head.” Chilam added that he would always perform a headstand during hot yoga as it helps keep his skin soft and gives him a brighter, healthier complexion.
A long time Buddhist, Chilam also supplements his workouts with light, healthy meals. “Eating light keeps me calm and at peace. This is related to my own serene personality and my religion. I have been a Buddhist since my teens; I am able to calmly face any obstacles.”
Chilam also shared that cutting his smoking and partying habits drastically improved his looks. “At first I decided to stop smoking because of my son….I naturally wanted to become a good role model. Even though I smoked for many years, I easily made the decision to quit. I also stayed out late all the time, and slept through the morning. Nowadays I am committed to waking up at 10 a.m. every day regardless of how late I went to bed the night before….”
Family Life
In addition to his healthy lifestyle, Chilam also credits his wife Anita Yuen (袁詠儀) for his impeccable fashion style. Since their marriage in 2001, Anita has dedicated herself to care for her husband and son full time. She even picks out all of Chilam’s outfits every day, making sure he looks his best in public. Anita once joked, “Whenever [Chilam’s] friends see him wearing the same outfit for several days, they immediately know that I am out of town!”
With such a loving woman by his side, Chilam is constantly in a state of bliss, saying, “My heart still beats so fast whenever I see my wife.” Even though Anita’s personality sometimes clashes with his own, Chilam believes opposites attract and that compromise is the key. “My wife has a very explosive personality, and I am more tame and passive…. Every couple should learn to compromise, and know how to appreciate each other!”

@HTS, not rare really, my wife too makes my heart beats faster whenever I see her. We have been married for 19 years already. She is still gorgeous & sexy. She dresses well, keep a shapely body & still love wearing lacy lingerie at home. Not surprisingly, I always make it a point to present a small gift & red roses on valentine day each year without fail….but not all men can be like Julian in such a good shape though, sigh! Me? Totally out of shape…… 🙁
It is great that Anita is a good wife and takes care of Chilam. I think we now know more and more why Chilam and Anita both treasure each other. Before I used to always hear that Anita is controlling and all. I think she is in some ways, but most likely knows her limit as a wife.
Most of us would probably not have enough time to exercise 2 hours each day.
Although I walk a lot, it’s not rigorous enough. I’m lucky if I can swim one hour each week, which takes consistency to adhere to a workout routine. But the benefits are great, just getting to the gym is always the hardest part.
I agree that getting to the gym is really tiring. These days I prefer an hour of pilates at home everyday.

Nicole, do you have any basic of yoga before? its better start from the beginning first, then you can advance to another level of yoga. yoga need to be step by step, good luck and enjoy it, head stand is very good and i love to do that
ya nicole u need to be careful when doing head stand. it might look easy but it isn’t. u need ur core strength to be very strong as well as your arm strength. or else it will be very dangerous as u might get hurt.
I say the first thing is to make sure your arms are strong enough to hold. Your core can build as you go but you must make sure your arms are strong enough.
I would never do a headstand because I do not have the strength to and doing so would give me a big bad headache.
Hotncold, I did yoga for experimentally at the college gym before focusing on pilates back then. I don’t know why, but the mediation gave me a headache. So I know some basic positions but not much.
Honestly I was thinking more of hanging upside down on the monkey bars ;p rather than a true blue headstand.
hi crystal, strong arms alone won’t help. u need a strong core because if not when u pop ur stomach, ur balancing will not be steady. also you need squeeze ur legs tight so that ur body is more balance and not wobbly. trust me. i just did it this afternoon in my yoga lesson. strong arms alone won’t work :-)!

I was not talking about strong arms alone. Lol. I am saying for those who never done it make sure they have arms that can save them. Of course maintaining the position is based on core strength but if you lack core strength and you need something to save you…. your arms and if they are flabby or not in the best shape…. its going to hurt.
I remember when I first attempted a headstand, yeah my arms failed on me. Pretty painful. But that was years ago, haha. Better now. Thank goodness.

I can never understand that any individual who has never been a gymnast, learn yoga (whichever Yoga type) and suddenly, so flexible. Leg can go behind the head and turn to wrap around shoulders, something like that.
I mean wow! How can you ever do that? That sort of flexibility.

I have come to the conclusion that there are 2 possibilities about ChiLam..
1. He is a robot. – No human is that prefect.
2. He’s lying out his butt. (but I don’t think so cause everyone thinks he is lovely and he can’t keep up a lie that long)

I would not call Chilam’s body as fit for a male. I prefer some muscles here and there. Nothing shapely about his arms, legs and belly. It’s a thin body but not very sexy.
Sounds like my boyfriend and I. My bf exercises more than 2 hrs a day. I don’t even bother. He was 185 and dropped to 155 very quick. If he can do it, many females that complains about their weight can do it. Then I’m the one that has an explosive personality that his friends thinks I’m controlling. My bf is tame as well but we get along really well. Like really really well that none of our friends can last a long relationship like us. I’m still dating my first bf and he’s still dating his gf. It’s been 9 years and time flies. My advice is to treat your partner as your close and best friend. Give space and encouragement to each other. My cousin dated like 10 dudes already and she just gives up on relationships quick. Always communicate and try to understand each other.
