Chilam Cheung Signs With New Company
Now that Holiday and Captain Tong are officially a couple, fans are disgruntled to see ex-boyfriend Captain Cool stepping in the way of their relationship. Initially the most-liked character in Triumph in the Skies 2 <衝上雲霄II> has now become the most hated.
Netizens criticized the character so much that Chilam Cheung (張智霖), who portrays Captain Cool, stepped up to defend himself on his Weibo, writing, “I’ve done my duty to portray him as a real person. It’s just that that the heartless editing has cut down Jayden Koo into someone not like himself anymore!” This post was later deleted.
But as one era ends, another begins. Chilam announced on Weibo two days ago that he has officially joined Stephen Shiu Jr.’s (蕭定一) company, China 3D Digital Entertainment.
Chilam wrote, “I’m currently in the United States. Due to the time difference, I haven’t even noticed that September 1 has quietly gone by. Today is a very special day for me, because things are changing. In the past ten years, Jet Tone Film Productions and I have fought wars together. There was a lot of happiness and a lot of dreams, but there were also times when things didn’t go the right way, and times of tears. Every single drop cultivated my growth. I am deeply grateful in my heart.”
Chilam added, “Today, I am holding the blessings of all my brothers and sisters from Jet Tone Film Productions. Bursting into an unknown future, I believe that with everyone’s great love, my road ahead will be filled with even more health and splendor! Thank you, everyone! I will never forget the great things you’ve done! From now on, I will work with China 3D Digital Entertainment Limited, hopefully to unfold a future where I can perform outstandingly and achieve proud results. I am already prepared to accept this new challenge. To all my new colleagues, are you guys ready?”

regarding his jayden comment, I too blame the bad editing for making his character suddenly so annoying. but I wonder what type of scenes were cut…

His character lost his cool, and he got really annoying. They really shouldn’t have done that to his character. His stalking scenes creeped me out (x
His current stardom status is only temporary because of the Captain Cool character……once this series is over, his popularity will die down again…..He’s not really A-list material.

That’s a pretty big exaggeration that he’s become the most hated. He’s pretty much the same throughout the whole series but it was just a bigger contrast next to Francis’s character who they made always seem right.

I really like his character as Captain Cool in Triumph in the Skies 2 . i think he is a versatile actor and a breakthrough for him. Even though i know a lot thinks that his character is annoying but to me no.
Why did Chilam delete his weibo entry. He should’ve stayed firm to his standing that he has done his job and is helpless for the post production editing.
it is okay to state that he has no control over the editing, but i think it was his negative tone by calling it heartless editing that prompted him to delete it. he is supposed to be gracious and not say anything negative.
He is still cool for me. I am looking for his new series.
He wasn’t my favorite character to begin with, and after Sam got together with Holiday episodes onwards, he became annoying as hell. What a change.

I think as long as he keeps his tv and film appearances up, he will remain popular. If he goes back to filming mainland stuff, he will fade into the background again.
He needs to switch to HK movies I think, his acting is movie level now IMO. It’s the only way he will improve from his current level. I hope his new Co. will provide him with some good quality movie roles.
I have never heard of them, but it sounds like a mainland company. I hope that doesnt mean he goes back to filming obscure mainland dramas.

just because an artist goes back to mainland it doesn’t mean they fade in popularity you even become more popular because u build a fan base in mainland and there is a lot more people in mainland

I never liked his character. I have no idea why it was so popular to begin with. With a personality like Captain Cool where he thinks the whole world owes him and he’s the best pilot ever, I don’t find it surprising that the character self destructed.
I was wondering why Captain Cool suddenly disappeared! Not to mention a bunch of scenes I had seen from filming and BTS also seemed to have disappeared. It’s a shame they shafted such an interesting character and left in so many unnecessary filler and secondary characters/scenes that no one cares about!
But I’m laughing at people who have gotten upset over Captain Cool getting in the way for Holiday/Sam. It’s not as if the latter romance has been developed any better than Holiday/Jayden so how did people get that invested?!!
I totally agree with you. They seem to have cut out a lot of Captain Cool scenes that from the drama that didn’t make any sense at all. Like how he keeps disappearing and reappearing again without any explanation about what happened to him. For example, we didn’t know he left for England for half a year until we saw him drawing at a park in England and Summer sat down next to him and said it’s time for his holiday to end. And then there’s that weird plane crash incident where everyone thought Jayden died…that was sooo random!
I also think how Sam and Holiday’s relationship developed so fast was kind of weird too.
