Christine Kuo Picks Up Car Racing

After suffering from hypothyroidism and gaining significant weight, Christine Kuo (苟芸慧) took nine months of unpaid leave from TVB. During her time off, Christine explored other opportunities, including car racing as well as opening a dim sum cafe with a friend.

Last month, Christine was spotted in a car accident during a practice session in racing in Zhuhai, China. Christine unfortunately lost control of the car, which flipped 360 degrees before landing on its roof.

Luckily for Christine, she did not sustain any major injuries and was only left with some scary memories from the crash. After a clip of the turbulent crash was leaked online, Christine commented, “I think the clip was taken from a car behind me. This was solely for leisure purposes where a couple of friends and I decided to practice car racing. It was done during my personal time and I’ve already told the company about taking a vacation to practice. I was hoping [to learn new skills], and it wasn’t [to race cars professionally]. I informed my manager about the crash. Anyone who has tried this sport knows there’s a certain risk to it – I’ve already bought insurance.”

While the car itself was damaged severely, it was designed to protect the driver inside. Christine quickly performed the necessary safety procedures during the crash, effectively preventing any physical injuries during the aftermath.
