Crystal Fung and Kaman Kong to Co-host New Variety Show About Scheming Women

The two will be part of a refreshing host lineup to lead discussions on the social phenomenon of “scheming women.”

Since attending last year’s infamous yacht party hosted by Arnaldo Ho (何猷亨), former good friends Crysal Fung (馮盈盈) and Kaman Kong (江嘉敏) fell out, and hardly interacted with each other even when attending the same events. However, the actresses are forced to work together again in a new TVB talk show which will explore the phenomenon of scheming women in the dating scene.

With Eric Tsang’s (曾志偉) return to TVB as Deputy General Manager overseeing variety show production, a massive shake-up is expected, with the station set to film its own program tentatively named Deciphering Scheming Girls <解構心機女>.

The show is based on Japanese hit show What’s Wrong with Being Wily?’ <有點心機又如何?>, which focuses on the social trend of “scheming women” and the techniques they use to attract the opposite sex. TVB will first air the Japanese original before premiering its own local version.

Named as host candidates are Crystal, Kaman, Joey Thye (戴祖儀), Winki Lai (賴慰玲) and possibly Sisley Choi (蔡思貝). TVB’s version will focus on discussing men’s preferences as well as what local Hong Kong women do to catch their attention, while male guests will also be invited to discuss their dating encounters.

Recently, interactive segment Big Big College <後生仔> uploaded behind-the-scenes footage of Crystal, Joey, Winki and Karl Ting (丁子朗) on its official social media page, highlighting its upcoming premiere in end of March. This evoked speculation that talk show Young and Restless <後生仔傾吓偈> may be ending its run. However, official personnel has since denied this.

Kaman: “Lots to Learn” From Crystal

TVB may have decided to have Crystal and Kaman anchor the new talk show to tap into the rivalry between the two actresses to generate buzz.

Having joined TVB for five years, Kaman has only appeared as a guest star on variety shows prior to this, and thus expressed excitement at the full-fledged hosting opportunity. When interviewed, she displayed cordiality towards Crystal, saying she has “lots to learn” from her, since the latter has more hosting experience.

Probed if she might feel uneasy working with Kaman, Crystal said she looks forward to a brand new host lineup and is sure the whole group will have lots of fun together.

Sisley May Also Join

Also Winki’s first hosting opportunity, the actress had previously worked with Crystal on Al Cappuccino <反黑路人甲>, whom she described as bringing a joyous vibe on set. “We’ll be discussing men and women’s actions and the motivations behind them,” the-34 year-old said. Winki added she will be focused on studying her new role for next month’s filming.

Winki’s good friend Sisley, who has had rumors with a few male co-stars since her debut including Him Law (羅子溢), will also join the host lineup if her filming schedule permits. Tuning in to talk shows in her spare time, Sisley felt that the hosts are “really awesome” and would love to try hosting for herself.
