Storyline (WARNING!!! SPOILERS ALERT!!)
Twinkle (Tavia Yeung) has always been very superstitious and was interested in horoscopes. Her best friend Yat Po (Steven Ma) helped his father in a fish stall. The two are very good friends. They meet Koon Sing Ho (Michael Tse) who was a toy designer and was also interested in horoscopes. His girlfriend Cheuk Kei (Mandy Cho) was very supportive and worked in the same company. Yat Po likes Twinkle but was never brave enough to declare his love. Twinkle also likes Yat Po and tried to declare her love but due to a misunderstanding, she thought Yat Po just wants to remain friends.
Twinkle was hired by Koon Sing as his assistant and she helped him create different toys such as a horoscope gadget. The two became really close and Koon Sing felt that he had much more in common with Twinkle than Cheuk Kei. As a result, they break up. Koon Sing breaks up with Cheuk Kei causing a lot of gossip in the office. He declares his love for Twinkle and they started their relationship.
Yat Po tries to email Twinkle and tell her how he really feels but her computer broke and she did not receive the email. Yat Po just left the matter to rest since Twinkle was dating Koon Sing. However, Twinkle finds the email and told Koon Sing how Yat Po feels. She becomes very confused.
Koon Sing and Twinkle break up and this had an impact on Koon Sing’s career. He has lost the motivation to design new toys and was no longer interested in anything. Yat Po and Twinkle tries to help him but he refuses to listen. Eventually, he calms down when he injured Yat Po and realises that he has great friends.
The love triangle was too much pressure on Twinkle and she can no longer choose. The three decides that they will be good friends forever whatever happens and they will separate for a period of time. Then one day Twinkle was in a theme park. Yat Po was there but they do not see each other. Yat Po decides to call Twinkle and Koon Sing recognised the ringtone whilst the phone was ringing. He found Twinkle before Yat Po did and they ended up together.
CHARACTER AND COMMENT
Tavia Yeung as Twinkle
I quite like her character at the start because I thought that she was quite funny. However, her character become exceptionally annoying and I felt like shouting at her to tell Yat Po how she feels. I think that she likes Yat Po more anyway but was not sure whether he felt the same way or not. You could tell she was kind of disappointed in the end when Koon Sing found her first. That bugs me even more because if she wanted Yat Po to find her first then she should have phoned him!!!
Steven Ma as Chi Yat Po
I loved his character. The character just sounds too good to be true. The character is so sweet and would do anything for Twinkle. I thought that it was really sad in the end when he started singing. But then he could have phoned Twinkle earlier. Well his name definitely matches him. He will always be a bit slower than other people.
Michael Tse as Shing Ho
I was not really a fan of his character. I thought it was rather strange for him to be interested in horoscopes. I have always thought it was a girl’s thing and it seemed rather unrealistic for him to get that into it. i thought he had much more chemistry with Mandy Cho than Tavia Yeung.
Overall
The series was not one of the best I have seen. It is a bit too “Korean” meaning the storyline is very similar to a typical Korean drama where love triangles occur in every Korean Drama. (I will use this term in future reviews). I am not a fan of romance dramas and this series did bore me. There were times where i wanted to give up watching it. the ending made the whole thing worse. However, I think that if the series was broadcast in Hong Kong, they would probably have had a poll and allow the public to decide who Twinkle should choose. I think that you should watch it if you are a fan of Tavia, Steven or Michael.

Aren’t triangle love occur in TVB’s series too ? anyway korean series are better in my opinion
i agree, love triangles often appear in tvb dramas too and i can name many korean dramas that i’ve watched in the past year with no love triangle whatsoever. really shows how misinformed the writer is. clearly they haven’t watched many korean dramas.
just to name a few… secret garden, city hunter, queen seon deok, coffee prince and my princess are examples of korean dramas where there are no love triangles.
I’ve seen coffee prince b4, it was a good korean drama, romantic in a funny way and the ending was good too. I have seen Princess hour too starred by Eun Hye Hoon again. Love how the prince tortured Hye Hoon lol.
3rd series that Steven and Tavia aren’t together. How nice…not. >_<
Anyways, guessed I mostly enjoyed the first 5 episdoes, due to the happier, cute, Steven-Tavia moments.
Stupid Twinkle for letting fate decide. Even though if it was actually fate, then Twinkle would've been w/ Yat Bo. Yat Bo just gave the opportunity to Goon Sing.
I enjoyed Steven's performance in here, especially heartbreaking for me to watch that last scene of him at the harbor at the crack of dawn. It is a hard to portray this character without making it bland. Props for him. 🙂
Who would love to watch Korean series. I remembered there some preview on some Korean drama and I could turn it off fast enough. Anyway, always TVB fan and I think HongKong series have more plot and story line. Especially supporting actors&actresses. Good series not only depend on lead role but also on supporting role and extras.
Most of Taiwanese, Korean, and Chinese are really bore me to death because if the lead roles are not present the supporting are just horrible and it ruins the whole series. Correct if I am wrong!!
Well, you should watch a series for more than just the cast. I think the plot of a series is the most important thing.
There are good Korean, Hk, Chinese, Taiwanese series, etc… We should not just stereotype that all series from a certain country is good or bad. There are good and bad series from every country. I have seen some Korean series and some are good but some are really boring. The same thing goes for HK, China or Taiwan.
if yat poh get trinkle will be better ending.I never miss Steven ma and Tavia show.thumb up both of you
Because of Steven’s believable portrayal of Yat Bo’s goodness and his unconditional love for Twinkle, I totally buy that he would concede his love for Twinkle to another man, because to him, nothing is important than Twinkle’s happiness. Although why he thinks Goon Sing can give Twinkle more happiness than he can is totally beyond my comprehension. That last shot of his huddled figure on the jetty about broke my heart.
its not cupid stupid but stupid cupid
@shirelypow
lol no it’s actually Cupid Stupid, that is the title!
Jayne, I know a lot of people think that Tavia end up with Michael, but the last scene when Steven sits in front of his house and gets a call from Tavia, i believe she’s calling him to tell him that she chose him, not Michael! I came to that conclusion after recalling the convo she had with the “Horoscope princess”, about how she shouldnt listen to fate because happiness is in your own hands, and also when Michael found her at Disneyland, she seemed disappointed and she said something like “so fate has chosen you”, i think she meant that since fate let him find her, she’s going to go against fate and take matters in her own hands by choosing to be with Steven.
I already predict that Tavia&Micheal will end up together , that why i didn’t watch it ;\
wasn’t it steven that used an unknown caller id and call tavia? he doesn’t wanted tavia to suffer the pain of choosing btw michael and him, so he gave up, foolishly believing that michael will give her happiness
To be honest after watching this series I noticed a few things:
– Michael and Tavia just had insufficient chemistry despite both displaying competent acting.
– Steven and Tavia seem like brother-sister more than lovers.
And I’ll be damned if I ever remember which series it was that this situation also occurred: female liked A, but believing A not to like her, falls for B then finds out A liked her but is now torn between the two. I say $10 for anyone who can give me the name of the TVB series that also panned out like this or had such a plot?!
