DaDa Chan Debuts on TC Candler’s “100 Most Beautiful Faces” Nomination

The USA-based TC Candler and the Independent Critics organization has been publishing lists every single year since 1990, focused on the most beautiful and most handsome faces of the year. Despite it being “world famous”, the western-centric TC Candler only nominates celebrities who are popularly known in the West. Hollywood celebrities aside, K-pop celebrities often make it on the list.

This year, however, TC Candler nominated 31-year-old Hong Kong actress DaDa Chan (陳靜) to be on the “most beautiful” list. She is the only Hong Kong female artiste to be nominated. DaDa made her debut as a pseudo-model, and was discovered by talent agents shortly after collaborating with singer Jason Chan (陳柏宇) in a 2008 commercial. In 2013, she won the Hong Kong Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the film Vulgaria <低俗喜劇>. Long known for her sexy image, DaDa has rebranded her image in the 2020 film The Secret Diary of a Mom to Be <BABY復仇記>, gaining 20 pounds to play the role of a young mother.

In addition to DaDa, there is also Chinese actress Dilraba Dilmurat (迪麗熱巴), Japanese actress Satomi Ishihara (石原聰美), and K-pop singers IU, Suzy, and Jessica Jung. Last year, Tzuyu (周子瑜), Taiwanese member of Korean girl group TWICE, was the number one on the list.

In terms of Hollywood actresses, there is Scarlett Johansson, Margot Robbie, and Gal Gadot.
