Darren Wang Starts Year-long Military Conscription

Arrested for dodging mandatory military service, 33-year-old Darren Wang (王大陸) has since started his alternative military service on March 13, heading to the Chenggong Ling camp in Taichung.
Among Conscripts Allowed to Book Out on Good Service
Male recruits at Chenggong Ling camp reportedly have an upcoming mass selection process on April 2; those who were assessed to have performed well were allowed to book out on the evening of March 28 for a break – which will be Wang Talu’s first time taking a break since training began. When the press rushed to the camp entrance, they failed to catch sight of Wang Talu, and his campmates revealed that Wang had already been whizzed off in a private vehicle.
Cho Huan-hsin, deputy director-general of the Substitute Service Training and Management Center explained that explained that Wang will undergo a 21-day standard basic training before determining his service agency assignment.
The actor, who currently faces legal allegations of getting the triads to beat up a car service driver with whom he had a heated quarrel, will be permitted to take leave in accordance with established regulations should he be required to appear in court, the deputy director-general said.

If his beating charges is convicted, he may still go to jail.
ATM, it’s the best move as the other charge is still in legal proceedings, and it depends on how good his lawyer is/how much he can pay off the victim. Whereas the military service is no way out, n he must do it, so get this done while serving military is hitting 2 birds with 1 stone. Possibly good for his personal character, too. If I’m his parents, I would kick him to the camp n hopefully he comes out better!
